    And so it goes....

My real score was only a few points better than the Kaplan score.
  2. Thanks folks. I found the answer in the document. Ravi's post is very useful.
  3. Where can I find the official answers to all the questions in the attached file?2004-10-25_215811_GMAT_SC.doc

    Probability

Riju and Grecellz are probably correct. But, can you explain why the answer is not 1-3C2/10C2?

    Probability

A buyer buys 3 different items out of the newly introduced 10 different items. If two items were to be selected at random, what is the probability that the buyer does not have both the chosen items?
  6. Follow-up: Any specific pointers to GCD, LCD, prime factors, etc., will help!
  7. Hi, I come up with wrong answers to almost all the questions on number properties in the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] DS section (question numbers > 200). This is my weakest area. Can you provide some pointers or tips to help me improve? I do understand the explaination provided in [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. But, before I read the explaination, when I try out the questions on my own, the numbers I pick to plug (I pick a variety of numbers) justify my answer. This is scary because, the final result differs from ETS'. I have my exam in 2 days! Any quick pointers will be appreciated! Thanks, Coral
  8. I scored 6.0/6.0 in my real toefl essay and gmat essays. Here is what worked for me: 1. Start with a great introduction. Take sides - do you see flaws in the topic or not - typically there will be several flaws in the topic. Do you think the flaws can be addressed if extra information is provided? 2. In the second paragraph, write about the most important flaw. Say why you think this is a flaw, and what kind of impact it has on making the decision. Say what would kind of information would help to go in favour of the author. 3. Repeat #2 for the 2nd major flaw. 4. Repeat #2 for the 3rd major flaw. (Depending on your typing speed, and the number of flaws you have identified, you can repeat #2 in several paragraphs. My essays are typically between 5 and 6 paragraphs including intro & conclusion). 6. Provide more details that may help the case in your opinion, even though the question stem does not expect you to. 7. Summarize what you have written so far. I usually conlcude it in favour of the author by stating that, the author can succeed if he address all the issues that I pointed out in my essay. ----------- Now to your question: You have captured some important points. But, you have elaborate on each one of them instead of just posing questions. Just use this as your opportunity to tell stories to the folks at ETS. Here are some of the points that I would come up with for this topic in my in my initial brainstroming: 1. Survey was taken 2 years ago - what is its validity now? 2. what did the survey include - did it include all that is listed there? What was the individual break out? - what kind of schools are there - high school/university? (You can argue that if there is no University then people may have to move again when their kids grow old and are ready to enter University). 3. How are the job opportunities in the area? Is this an industrial city? (What is the point in moving to a top ranking city if you will be unemployed? - of course unless you go there to retire) 4. Who conducted the survey? How many cities were included? Is it a worldwide ranking? You are given full 30 minutes to write as much as you wish, and you should maximize this opportunity. Length is not necessarily an important factor. But, you dont want to just write pointers to your thought as well. It is okay to use questions in your essay, as long as you answer all the questions you ask. I typically use sentences and numbered lists. For instance (no offence intended Ketan), compare Ketan's feedback with my feedback. Which one gives you more information? Honestly, for the most part, both of us are driving the same point to you. Elaborate! Hope this helps you. Good luck.
