  1. Manjula - It could be anything - but as move towards higher score u may hit problem involving multiple doamins of maths. It is the application of basic principles from different domains of maths that these type of questions test, so the problem could be a combination of Probability & Coordinate Geo or it could as well be P&C & Set theory.
  2. Smali - I would suggest level of RCs in GMAT is at-par with OGs. I personally found OG10 RCs to be bit challanging that OG11. I am not very sure if the level of RCs is too different between GMATPrep and actual exam. To me - prep in CR helped improve reading closely and eventually in RC strike rate. Regarding SC - As I approached near the exam date I started treating this section like Quant - First Identify whats the issue with the sentence and then check against all rules that you know abt that particular issue Hope it helps
  3. Gmater-1 : Quant toughies are geared towards testing the fundamentals...so as you move towards higher score in Quant u start getting problems that test ur knowledge on multiple topics. (such as Coordiante Geometry mixed with Probability) Regarding source - Apart form OG, I practised questions from TM maths sections. Also Kaplan workshop CD was very handy esp with short cut tricks.
  4. Today I got my AWA score as well - it is 5.0
  5. Here I am finally done with the exam – Got 710 (Q50 V36). Though I was expecting 730+, but now satisfied with the score I got. MY GMAT Journey so far I started preparing sometime in August beginning, so had overall of around 2.5 months The material that I referred during preparation · OG10 · OG11 · Manhattan SC Guide · Powerscore CR Bible · Verbal notes floating on the various web-sites · 21-30 SETS (needless to mention, that apart from OG this is the best material with actual representation of GMAT Quant (PS and DS) – I think the quality of questions discussed on TM forum is great and, if done properly should suffice. Clarity of concepts on inequality, P&C, Set Theory and Co-ordinate geometry is must for 48+ Quant score. I personally found summary in Quant OG to be covering the most of the tested topics and KAPLAN workshop is of good quality (esp it has some good tricks and shortcuts) SC – I was initially struggling with it but got relatively better handle before the exam. This part I think improves with practice…so there is no alternative to Pratise…Practise and Practise. CR – This is one area that I was not very confident of. I was good at doing medium complexity CR, but when it starts throwing the complex ones, I was completely at lost. I found Powerscore Bible to be good book on building the basic approach. I referred to initial few chapters and it was indeed useful! RC – This was my challenge since beginning, but I performed remarkably well in the GMATprep RCs and I guess I was at ease doing RCs in real exam as well. Didn’t refer to anything special My CAT scores 21-Sep-08 MGMAT - Free 650 (Q 44, V35) 27-Sep-08 Power Prep 1 710 (Q 40, V47) 4-Oct-08 Power Prep 2 710 (Q 38, V49) 18-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 1 730 (Q 48, V42) 19-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 2 700 (Q 49, V35) 20-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 3 750 (lots of repeat in verbal) (Q 49, V42) ACTUAL GMAT on 22nd Oct - 710 (Q50 V36). To my surprise – Gprep has very good database and throws you with lots of new questions even after re-install. Probably the score in Gprep1 is what set my expectations bit higher but finally I have to settle with 710. D- day Got in-time, started with AWA, - good warm-up. The argument topic was some 5-6 liner and it took me some time to understand what it is saying. But was able to bud up a good story and the overall section went on well. Quant - The first questing took me for a toss- It was a simple (now I thing simple !) and I ended up spending around 6 mins…but finally did it right. After that there was no real challenge except for the fact that when you are moving for higher score it Quant, it throws you tricky questions and I was not able to manage few questions. But overall the section went on well and I was sure of getting in the range of 49+. Verbal – This is where my problem started, I took a break bit too longer and reached at system delayed by 1 Min and 39 Sec… got bit nervous due to time loss but somehow managed the section well till around Q18. After this I had to guess few questions to make sure that I am hitting right on time. Though I was able to finish the section well 30 seconds in advance, but I knew that I have not been fare to my preparation in verbal section. BIG Thanks to Erin and TMers for making this a wonderful forum So this is what my story is. My profile - I have around 8 years of experience mostly into IT Consulting. I will be targeting Part-time (weekend) / Executive MBA, so I think my score should suffice for top tier US B-schools? Any thoughts / suggestions? Reposting it as somehow my earlier post got deleted !
  6. ACTUAL GMAT on 22nd Oct - 710 (Q50 V36). Here are my CAT scores 21-Sep-08 MGMAT - Free 650 (Q 44, V35) 27-Sep-08 Power Prep 1 710 (Q 47, V40) 4-Oct-08 Power Prep 2 710 (Q49, V38) 18-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 1 730 (Q48, V42) 19-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 2 700 (Q49, V35) 20-Oct-08 GMAT Prep 3 750 (lots of repeat in verbal) (Q49, V42)
  7. 700 is a good score buddy! You should be celebrating..Congratulations !!! How was ur Gprep score ? Is this score too far from your practise tests ?
  8. What does 2 "it" refers to in the sentence - "it is necessary....it and .....the paint" I will go with D for more clarity
  9. Isn't "it" is confusing in "it is necessary....it and .....the paint"
  10. A for me too. The passage states that - "These findings will promote compassion and tolerance when looking at a mental illness" - Findings are the understanding of neurochemical imbalances
  11. Was stuck up for some time between A and E. Will go for E
