Hello Ganesh I took naplex through Nevada. Prep time 4 months as I am working full time job. I do not know how internship helps in doing Naplex. Only the brand names might help if at all you give Naplex after internship. Thank you for your wishes. Wishing you all the best. MK

HELLO YUGOS For Naplex... I just stuck to one Book that is Apha 5th edition. I never read Morris Cody. For caluclations.. Mannon shroff or Prontopass. Just do them throughly and you will get through easily. MK -

I had 5th edition.But I guess difference of editions will not add up much.I think you have to think beyond 200 drugs because they can ask you any drug brand name. so i would recommend go chapter wise and master the brand names from the tables. Hope that answers your question Murthy

I did the Kaplan online-- but that was really tough than naplex.I would suggest read thoroughly Apha asmuch as you can. Questions will be just from them. Hope that answers your question. -

Hello Friends, Just thought I will share with you as to what to focus in APhA book based on my experience. I did NAPLEX recently and with out internship. 1. First of all set a date for the exam.(As you know you can always change it) 2.Every Chapter in APhA is important from Examination point of view. Except for the chapters2-6 where a normal reading is enough. 3. Make sure you read in each Chapter the following, 1.All the Tables and Charts. When I say tables one needs to focus on the brand names and look for any unique dosage forms and dosage administration. You may also have to be through with any comments mentioned there. I totally agree that remembering Brand names is difficult but remember that is only an initial struggle. My way of reading the charts were.. If for example in THE Cancer chapter there are about 9 charts/tables. Read the i chart thoroughly with brand names and rewrite them without looking at them and then go to Second chart and do the same thing. But the funny thing is by the time you do the second chart you might forget the first one. so the smart thing to do after the second chart you need to do both the charts again and so forth. In this way a mental image of the chapter forms in your mind and will serve as quick recollection. 2. Focus on all Mechanism of Actions of every class. 3. Focus on Patient instruction and counseling 4. Adverse events....Focus depends on what is most common-- Like Ace inhibitor for cough 5.Drug Interactions— If we have to learn all of them may be it takes a life time... I would go with very important ones and common ones. It’s good if you know what CYP450 is all about. 6. When it comes to OTC preparation. The chapter looks easy but we need to remember that there is lot of brand names hidden while you read the chapter. So I would suggest simply master it. Same with the Dermatological preparation. 7.First start off with Major chapters like Cardiovascular, Diabetes, Hyperlipidemia, Nutrition, Oncology, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Pain seizures, Psychiatric, derma, OTC, asthma infection diseases and anti infective, HIV and Vaccines. 8. Cardio---Again know all the charts are very important. Remember if you think its a difficult thing to do it. I would suggest allow 1 hr per chart and master it. One day per chapter master all the charts. Once you master them then remaining things will be easy. and same for all the chapters. 9Anti Infective--I know for some it’s difficult for some it’s damn easy. The trick to master anti infective is basically one has to know by tips is that which organism falls under which category. To elaborate the point here what i Do Divide the page in to four Blocks 1st Block we have Gram positive 2nd Block we have Gram negative 3rd block Gram positive but Anaerobic 4th Block is Gram negative anaerobic 1st block its all Starts with "S"- Strep and staph 3rd block starts with "C" Candida Albicans etc 4th Block starts with "B" B. fragalis etc The remaining organism fall in 2nd block. Well this is just an out line. I am sure most of you know this. Now once you know where they fall and if you know the antibiotic covers gram +ve you know what organism come under them. Coming to HIV--well in this chapter there is no theory. It’s just the charts. Don’t worry about the charts like drug interactions. If you go through them carefully, it’s the almost the same drug interaction. But make sure to Master the major classes and details there under. Same with the Psychiatric disease. Where ever you find combination drugs. Please remember those brand names. It may be any chapter. These are most important chapters and whole APhA book I guess. So try to read and master every line Painfully read the Pain chapter again the charts and make it painless in your exam RA..very very easy chapter but very important. Make sure you go through the charts. Especially the dosage forms route of administration, they are different for different products with in the same class. GI---Again the charts, and pt counseling, what should be taken with food and what should not be taken, brand names Thyroid--Very important again the charts and pt counseling MOA signs and symptoms Then it comes to lab values... know what happens if a particular lab value is up or down... no need to memorize the standard values Calculations... is more of practice than intelligence. So make sure you are spending every day at least about half hour for calculations. I would recommend if possible take Pre-NAPLEX once you have finished your prep. It gives a lot of confidence. Again friends this is just my opinion and my way of looking as to how i can prepare for this exam. There are several ways out there several ways to achieve success so just keep in mind that this is my view. Hope fully it will help all the NAPLEX takers. Wishing you all the best! Hello, To answer your question: Assuming you are in United states with your current job you can opt to work towards your intern hours provided someone is willing to offer you that. In a word Yes, it is possible but you should find the right employer. It would be good to check with the current company that your allowed to do this part time and most importantly, your manager is aware of this. Secondly if you put this as the objective in your resume you may get very little attention..But if you just leave it as you are looking for intern hours to work and then when you get a call discuss with the interviewer your ideas of working on weekends. Working on weekends towards intern hours would take year or two to complete and you should be able to convience this point with the interviewer. But if you can show that you have cleared your Naplex companies might show some intrest in taking you on week ends. The other option would be ask the current compnay that if you can get a long leave for 3 and half months and then finissh your internship and then continue back your job and on week ends the pharmacist job. Well this is all I know. if its to much of advise. Just ignore it. Hopefully, it helps. Murthy

Hello Friends I think to have a clarity its good to have a discussion with your manager/ supervisor at the time of the interview..."when they ask you do you have any questions for us in the interview.". i would ask them to tell about how would they go on training a new intern in their pharmcy? When they say about it make a note of it... and ask then if they would evalauate your intern work on monthly intravals... until you become a pharmacist... Other alternative would be .. you can sit with pharmacist and begining of the week/month and work on that week/month objectives...as what you have to learn from the pharmacist.. It would be great if you can forward a monthly report on what you learnt to your supervisor and Pharmacist.. I am sure its a busyw orkplace and everyone would be selfish in there in terms of time.. probably we have to find our solutions... One more tip... Take some donuts and coffee at least once a month... that would work wonders... sometimes Hope it helps! Well I may be wrong... but a good thing to think about! Regards MK

Hello Yes you can write the Naplex from Naveda state without doing intern hours.Their only condition is to complete all the license requirements for the state of Naveda with in a year of passing Naplex. The other requirement in the application is the SSN number. I called them and checked about that. They mentioned that I could put the SIN(social Insurance Number)instead because i live in Canada.As long as you have a SIN number in Canada you can apply.You need not necessarily be a citizen. Give them a call or email them and they will be glad to answer your queries. Regards MK

Yes you can write if you have a candian SIN number from Naveda.Call the respective board and tell them that you have SIN number(social insurance number) and you are residing in Canada. It works... MK

Hello TN is coool.Get an offer and then go to the border get the visa start working...H1b is now a lottery... try 649 or H1B.. both are good choices if they click...I am at the border.. need any help let me know Normally they renew TN every year.. without much difficulty.. so its akind of permanant Job...
