Hi MsDemeanor, Thanks for your input. I appreciate your comments. Yes, I am making a case for my transition along with my work experience in my SOP and I have done quite well in my earlier degree. I wanted to get others opinions so that I can cover all aspects on this issue to make my application storng. Just don't know how to move this thread into Admissions section.:hmm:

Hi, I am BuzzBee. Attempting to prepare for Gre and do well in Quant. :eek: I already have a graduate degree from Harvard ( in Education Statistics) and 4 years work experience in a big 5 firm in Technology consulting in the US. Now I am planning to apply for MS/Ph.D in CS. Though I have 4 yrs work experience in software, I do not have any idea as to how strong my non CS degree would count for my application. Do any of you have any idea on experience on this kind of transition. Good luck to all the aspirants..:grad:

HI manasi4gre and coolmavs, Sorry that you guys are having trouble with the application and for my delayed response (I have a small nursing baby, so schedule for me often gets quite busy with family over weekends). Any how, I tested this on two more machines, once downloading from my attachment and it just seem to work fine. I am attaching the 33ave.txt file here. Try replacing this with the one you have. The size of this file is 365kb. Also I do not know how you are unzipping the application. I am using Winzip and this primarily for Windows OS. If you guys still have trouble please email me (paste the contents ) of your error log and I can try to give it a shot and see what is going wrong. I want to help you guys make this work, so that you can also make use of this for preparation. 33ave.txt

Hi manasi4gre, The most likely thing that would have happened is that the zip file wouldn't have downloaded completely on your computer. Download it again and see if the file size is 336 KB. (that is the actual file size) and make sure it unzips correctly. When you unzip you should have these 5 file names. Alpha.inf, abcd.inf, 33ave.txt, Gre.exe, ReadMe.txt If you have all these and it still does not work, make sure your computer can compile C language properly. Let me know how it goes. Please also post how helpful the program is so that other will know whether to use it or not. Good luck.

Hi All, I am new to this Test Magic. A while back I came across this software program for preparing for verbal list on the web. Some of you may already be aware of this. I have attached it below. It is called Automatic Vocabulary Enhancer (AVE). Good Luck.!! Here are the instructions to use it. Unzip the attachment, it creates a folder called AVE. In it there is a file called GRE.exe. Once you click on it. it opens up a console where you have the option to see new words, or recently viewed words or words with difficulty levels etc. It a very helpful tool. It is a simple program and is not corrupted in any way since I used it on my desktop, laptop and office computer to review over free time. ave.zip
