  1. Well I had 570 before. But I could score abobe 650. Here is some tips. Start with the kaplan tests and get them finished. But do not come back to kaplan as these questions does not help in real GMAT. Try OG (any edition) to complete. Better try these in a test environment. I mean sit with time and do 45 questions in 70 minutes. Initially it will be tough, but you can do it. Try to understand the the types of questions and their answers. You will see that they ave a pattern, mainly in the verbal part. It is better you sit with them and find the patterns yourself. By this way, you can excell. In practice tests, always write two essays first. It helps to feel the pressure you get when you start the math part. In real test, you never start the math part with clean mind as you already finished writing. Many students avoid the writing and face huge challenges in the real test. Complete each section by the time. The above mentioned practice will help you. Find old questions of GMAT and write practice test. This helps. After finishing kaplan, do not go for any other type of guide. Again they do not help that much. Spend 4 hours a day and in two months I think you will have a good score. Finally enjoy GMAT ... do not take it too seriously.
  2. I think they put a yellow paper between two sheets and then join them by heat. But you cant buy it in stationary shop. Yes they are erasable. So I suggest you practice in one side of the sheet, but be prepared for the test.
  3. Transparecy sheets. But these are good because these are not see through. So you will not have problem in writing both sides.
  4. http://gmatjj.blogspot.com/ Go to this site. They have old ETS questions. For SC, you can expect long sentences. But if you follow the GMAT grammer rules, you will not find them that difficult.
  5. Yes mav, the SC were long. And the problem was, on a lot of SC, the total sentence were underlined. I normally find it easy to have partial underline to compare with the correct protion of the sentence.
  6. Follow old GMAT questions, please do not follow kaplan.
  7. Thanks for the nice question. In my experience, every one should go to road to GMAt and download old GMAT questions. Please do not follow Kaplan. It actually deviates you from ETS standard. Follow ETS. I had 11th edition (the one with Green cover page). So I do not know anything else about other editions. But the previous questions helped me the most than practicing from OG. Avoid questions from Kaplan or Other books. ETS is the best.
  8. I was surpised too 800bob. At one point, I got irritated as at the end of every SC question, I was looking for a different one next time, but it kept coming.
  9. Well GMAT 210 IThe new interface is almost same as the last one, but hte color is blue now. So better you download the practice software from mba.com and practice there. Because, in my case, the blue color was irritating me to a little extent. The fonts are somewhat bigger now. And also the width of the reading comprehension part of the screen. But actually it depends on the question. For example, there was a small question and so the width of the RC part was bigger. But in the same RC question, there was a big and wordy question and so they reduced down the width of thr RC part and so it got longer. The good thing is you can scroll down now by using the wheel of the mouse, that you could not have done before. The screen was usual 15 inch screen, as I remember. Also they sometimes highlight the part of the essay by yellow color if tha part of word is the key of the question. Let me know if you have any other information.
  10. I do not have the best score, but I thought you might be interested in my experiences about the new system.I wrote GMAT on Jan 9 under the new system. These are my experiences-I found the Math section starts with a moderate difficult question, but it is almost similar to the previous math test. The verbal section was the same as that of previous system. But I experienced that about more than half of the verbal questions were from sentence correction. I got only three reading comprehension, two of them were short. For writing now they have some sort of word type interface. And you can easily use keyboard and mouse to cut and paste. So make sure you do use these as it might help you to increase the length of the essay. They gave me a book of five tranparency sheets and fine markers to scratch. So you will have sufficient space to scratch, need not erase anything. Also I got ten minutes break. Good for me as I am a smoker.Make sure you do not spend more than three minutes in a question. If you find any question taking you five minutes, do not try to answer, pick a choice and move on.Another suggestion, stop coming to this or any other forum at least two days before the test. Stop writing the practice tests at least twoy before the test. Watch a good movie the night before the test. And I am not sure if you guys find it offending, but I assume all of us are adults. If you are married or if you have boyfriend or girlfriend, make sure you have a wild sex the night before the test, it helped me a lot to boost up my confidence.Good luck to all. This forum really helped me.
  11. Thanks Sourov. But there is a problem in your solution of Q1. Statement 2 says equal no. of stamps in both cases. But it does not say the total value is $4.4. Can not salve this.
  12. Thanks CTG. But my confusions still remain. Q1. A is possible if we calculate (0.15+0.29=0.44). This indicates 10 stamps should be bought in each case. But can we do it by trial only? Shouldn't there be mathematical solution? Q2. B is also possible. Train Q goes 110 mile in 2 hours. So Train P goes the remaining, 140 miles. So Train P is nearer. So I concluded D is the answer. Is there any mistake?
  13. 1. Joanna bought only $0.15 stamps and $0.29 stamps. How many $0.15 stamps did she buy? (1) She bought $4.40 worth of stamps. (2) She bought an equal number of $0.15 stamps and $0.29 stamps. (my answer is C, let me know where is my mistake) 2. Stations X and Y are connected by two separate, straight, parallel rail lines that are 250 miles long. Train P and train Q simultaneously left Station X and Station Y, respectively, and each train traveled to the other’s point of departure. The two trains passed each other after traveling for 2 hours. When the two trains passed, which train was nearer to its destination? (1) At the time when the two trains passed, train P had averaged a speed of 70 miles per hour. (2) Train Q averaged a speed of 55 miles per hour for the entire trip. (I think the answer should be D).
