Thanks for all your support , encouragement and humility. As of now , I don't plan to re-take the GMAT, for 2 reasons. Firstly I'm not sure if I'll cross the 750 mark (unless, either Erin or you 760+ gurus offer to coach me personally ;)) and secondly I'd rather spend the time working on my app. Although I have an IT-Engg. background, I don't really work for an IT firm/dept , but run a "small" consulting firm with projected revenues around half a million dollars this year. I plan to use this to diffrentiate my app. from the other IT applicants. Having said that, one of the reasons I'm so desperate to get accepted at a top B-schoool is that with the oppurtunity cost, applying to the tier 2 schools just doesn't make sense , but at the same time (as santiago said) I don't want to get dinged just because I'm 20 or 30 points short. For now , I just hope this approach works. P.S. See you guys at the Businessweek forums :-)

Took the GMAT earlier today (technically yesterday) and got a 710 (Q:49 , 90 %ile & V: 37 , 83 %ile). I would like to thank everyone on this forum, which has been my sanctuary for the past few months. I was a little bummed out when the website was down last week. Honestly , I'm a little disappointed with my score. I got better scores on most of my practice tests , but then again , there isn't really too much to practice with. My tests scores ranged from 730 - 760 in the usual PP , GMATPrep , paper based ETS tests but most of them had questions from the OG , hence they weren't a barometer of my true potential. I took the Kaplan CATs (scored between 620 and 670) and the Crack GMAT tests (scored b/w 650 - 700) , but have gathered that they are designed to be tougher than the actual GMAT. At this point I have 2 questions , firstly should I re-take (if I do re-take , I plan to do so in the next few weeks , since I already have the momentum) and secondly , if I do retake , how do I improve my Verbal scores ? My background , Indian male (engg. undergrad , 7+ years IT exp. .. blah blah ... the usual) and I plan to apply to the top 5 B-schools this year. Any feedback will be really appreciated.

I think I know this rule pretty well , but would appreciate if someone could confirm this for me. Which is construct is correct .. You are having lunch with Jey and I. or You are having lunch with Jey and me. I think its the latter one , here's my explaination for the same .. Should it be 'I' or 'me'? These personal pronouns are often used in the wrong place. Think about whether the personal pronoun is the subject or the object. Is it 'I' doing something or 'me' being acted upon? e.g. John and I are going there. Please give the money to me. A good trick for working out which one to use is to say the sentence to yourself with the other person taken out. e.g. John and I are going to the cinema. Take out 'John' and what do you get? You get 'I am going to the cinema' - which is right. If you said 'Me are going to the cinema' you can hear that it is wrong.

It should be C for the 1st one (the one with trains) and E for the 2nd one (Median). What's the OA ?

I've been preparing for GMAT for the past 2 months and thought I was almost ready , till I stumbled upon this forum. Now when I look at the kind of problems on this forum , I get the feeling I've been ignoring the Math section (or maybe spending the last 7 years in a corporate environment hasn't required me to do a lot of high school math and made me a little rusty). So far for Math , all I've used is the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and some old notes. I would appreciate if you post where do you get your problems from Thanks & Regards.

Cute / Twinnspitter , What's the OA to this question. I think they want to know the percent of the surface area of each of the new solids. Shouldn't the answer be 16.66 % ?

slick045 , do you remember the answer choices ? Here is an approxmiate solution (without using logs).. 3^(6x) = 8100 3^(6x) = 3^4 * 10^2 (3^(3x) )^2 = 3^4 * 10 ^ 2 3^(3x) = 3^2 * 10 if we approx 10 ~ 3^2 then we get 3^(3x) ~ 3^4 hence 3x ~ 4 i.e. x ~ 4/3 = 1.333

gotcha !! btw , do log problems generally appear on the GMAT
