  1. i found some mistakes in the GAS-tests i wouldnt pay a penny for such tests.
  2. did not doubt whether the body = had no doubt that the body whether and that are interchangeable in this case did not doubt that the body = had no doubt that the body if THAT or WHETHER is redundunt in A - why is it not redundunt in E? i dont think WHETHER is redundunt. there is nothing wrong with WHETHER being in the sentence.
  3. the problem with E is inappropriate use of which. which refers to the noun it follows. in this case which refers to storminess. storminess, which are the most obvious effects
  4. Left-handed majority tend to have an advantage over the right-handed majority, however, on task controlled by the right hemisphere of the brain, and mathematical reasoning is strongly under the influence of the right hemisphere in most people. first part of the sentence says that left-handed tend to have advantage over right-handed ones. then it says however ....normaly it follows with a contrast. i would expect to see some disadvantages of left-handed people against right-handed ones. the construction of the sentence doesnot seem to be correct. or is it just me? what do u think guys?
  5. which always refers to the noun it follows. the problem with B is that which,as it is placed, refers to does - wrong
  6. i dont think there is a general rule for that. at least i cant come up with one.
  7. alex cute, thats wright, WHOSE only about alive subjects but location of WHOSE in the sentence modifies the branches. thats why E is wrong.
  8. it is between E and D while choice E is a nice and concise sentence ...... it is not parallel to the one that follows after. choice D - akward and wordy, but compares like to like the rate ......with....failure rate - which is correct my vote goes to D
  9. it is the inhabitance that is undisturbed. the inhabitants of the Lofotens ,Virtually undisturbed for the last three centuries on their starkly beautiful islands near the edge of the Arctic Circle, have evolved folkways and a life-style that bring warmth to their harsh environment.
  10. alex cute - me 14. D - D 21 D - D 11. C -C 18. E -A - the only difference 21 B -B
  11. since the first part of the sentence contains have the verb has to be seen and not saw so it is between E and D i agree with veldemort, whose - modifies the branches in E
  12. B is missing he at the begining of the second sentence, in C he is redundant. D is missing he, so it is between A and E for me. i would go for A. in E in is missing before 1609
  13. well, i was responding on your early statement, yes since then u ve elaborated on that a bit more and in good details. still think that AND between increase... AND establish will not help. comma or AND - they both do the same thing. Well, the bill is going to have two simultaneous functions: 1. increase government regulation 2. at the same time it will establish standards for insurance. that is exactly my point bill doesnot do 2 simultaneous things. it does only 1 thing increase regulation,....and then ...as a cause affect ... establishing standards
  14. agree B - is the best answer, i disagree with alex cute that A is missing AND. the end is fine. ... who otherwise could be uncovered for months it is the begining that is problematic. it need to be gerund. ,establishing standards... otherwize A is saying: bill would increase: 1 regulation 2 establish standards in other words, bill will produce 2 things. B says: bill would increase .... regulation, ....this will cause establishment of standards
  15. indeed, moreover, A) comapres: lives... - Chekhov B) compares: Chekhov - biographies C) compares: life - lives .... correct D) compares: Chekhov and his life - ... of biographies E) compares: life - biographies
