Hi , I have been admitted for the Master's program in CS at UMN. I had made up my mind abt taking up johns hopkins. My interests are primarily in AI, m/c learning, information retreival and NLP. How is research in umn in these areas ? Also, reputation wise and placements at umn ? Shoule i consider umn or go with jhu ? thanks.

The job scene at JHU should be pretty good too cuz of the reputation ? why wud you advise me to take up Buffalo if its a job ?

hi, I have admits for MS in CS from Johns Hopkins, Buffalo and NCSU. I am lising below the factors which make it tough fro me to decide upon a univ. My areas of interest are AI,m/c learning and NLP. 1.)JHU - I have a 20% tuition waiver+health insurance covered. But i'm still not sure if its worth spending that high an amount. How much of a diff does it ultimately make the school you graduate from, in terms of job prospects and research exp ? 2.)Buffalo - Real cheap and i'm waitlisted for aid. Getting funded mite be easier than the other 2. But the school is not ranked high and is not particualrly selective in its intake of students. 3.)NCSU - I'm not sure there's much research going on in the areas of my interest. Also, i've hrd getting funded is very tough. I'd really appreciate it if you could all give your opinions.

hi...many univerisities require certain materials to be mailed directly to the grad admissions office and the rest of it to the dept. Can i sent them in the same packet addressed to the grad admissions office with a separate cover within addressed to the dept ?? Sending in 2 courier packets works out expensive.
