  1. Good catch 800Bob. I think I gotta be careful in evaluating this kinda tricky Qs. However careful as I may- I'm sure I'm gonna slip out one or two- I vaguely recall seeing a similar Q in OG where the answer was based on what Karmaholic had explained. ------------------ Oh... I just found that in OG Q, it is clearly mentioned that n is an integer where as in this Q it is not. So 800Bob's explanation stands valid.
  2. something wrong in the Q stem. so don't look at the figures that I hv put below. I put the figures generally to reach at the answer as 60. in general, the way to solve this kinda Q is: given E/N=20/11 => E = 20k, N = 11k (k is any constant) If 7 more non-employees join then the ratio becomes 3/2 => E/(N+7) = 3/2 => 20k/(11k+7) = 3/2 => 40k = 33k + 21 => 7k = 21 => k = 3. so total number of Es = 20k = 20*3 = 60
  3. though the avg GMAT score for ISB is 690, only 40~50% of applicants generally have GMAT score 700+. So I would say 680 is a very competitive score. you may want to join the yahoo group(isb-pgp@yahoogroups.com) for discussions on topics related to ISB. good luck for ur apps.
  4. I came up with the equation as y-2 thanx 800Bob for ur response.
  5. pricha, if u look at the Q stem you wud know that n=p/q from stmt1=> n^2 is an integer means p^2/q^2 is an integer where p,q both are positive integers. that means n^2 can't be 2/3/5.... it'll always be a perfect square
  6. OA as I vaguely remember was C.
  7. D. stmt1=> if n^2 is an integer then n has to be an integer. sufficient stmt2=> (2n+4)/2 is an integer => n+2 is an integer => n is an integer
  8. great approach. actually i was looking to see if it can be solved in a much better way. thnx for the same.
  9. when positive integer n is divided by 3 the reminder is 2; and when positive integer t is divided by 5 the reminder is 3. What is the reminder when the product nt divided by 15? a) n-2 is divisible by 5 b) t is divisible by 3 can someone explain the shortest method to get the answer??? i tried substituting values for n & t stmt1 : n=> 17, 32, 47... and t=> 8, 13, 18.... stmt2 : t=> 18, 33, 48... and n=>5, 8, 11..... and finally from both the stmts I got the values for n=>17, 32, 47..... and t=>18, 33, 48.... .... .... from the above 2 list, can we find out the reminder when the product nt divided by 15?? the answer is given as C
  10. Read the briefings at http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31943
  11. I think A is the right answer. Correct usage of Forbid is Forbid to and not Forbid from
  12. Hi Score800, given that the median is 130,000. It not necessarily means that at least one of the values will be less than this. It can be so that all the first 8 values be 130,000 each and still have the average as 150,000 and median as 130,000. Hope that helps....
  13. Great expalanation. Instead of starting a new thread, just searched for few keywords to see if this Q had been posted earlier. I'm convinced with the answer
  14. thanx tictaktoe for the great explanation
  15. Yes OA is given as A. Can u post the explanation for the same?
  16. Now I understood the OA. Yes statement 1 is sufficient to answer this.
  17. Each of the 25 balls in a certain box is wither Red, Blue or White and has a number from 1 to 10 painted on it. if one ball is to be selected at random from the box, Whats the probability that the ball selected will either be white or have an even number painted on it? 1) The probability that the both will both be white and have an even number painted on it is 0. 2) The probability that the ball will be white minus the probability that the ball will have an even number painted on it is 0.2
  18. A construction company was paid a total of $500,000 for a construction project. The company's only cost for the project were for labor and materials. Was the company's profit for the project greater than $150,000? 1) The company's total cost was 3 times it's cost of materials 2) the company's profit was greater than its cost of labor.
  19. If /\ (read as delta) is one of the arithmatic operation add, sub, mul & div, is (6 /\ 2) /\ 4 = 6 /\ (2 /\ 4)? (1) 3 /\ 2 > 3 (2) 3 /\ 1 =3 What will be the answer? I solved to get the answer as C but the OA is given as A- i don't agree with it. Is there anyone who thinks otherwise...?
