Hello guys, I have been admitted to the PhD in Economics at the GSEFM (Frankfurt) and Master in International Economics at the Graduate Institute Geneva so far. I am also waiting for the response for MRes in Economics at Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). Consequently, in a few days I have to decide which one to attend. I am finishing Master program in Econometrics currently and I am mostly interested in Macroeconomics and Econometrics (Time series analysis). As far as I know, both programs are rigorous and reputable. Placements are more that decent (especially Geneva), both cities enable plenty opportunities in a professional sense. The main argument pro Frankfurt is the fact that I will enrol in the PhD program directly and the nearness of the ECB, Bundesbank etc. On the contrary, Geneva seems to have better placements and more prominent program and professors, but I will have to start with the master program and have no idea about chances to exploit the fast track option and enrol in PhD after the first year of Master. Anyone who can give me some suggestions? Any input is welcome. Thank you in advance! Cheers!

Guys, I only recently found out about this school and its program seems wicked nice for someone who wants to do policy-oriented research related to development and macro (and has a strong preference for Europe). Yet all the threads around here are at least 5 years old. I didn't apply to it and already have some offers which will probably accept, but this program seems really really nice (almost makes me want to wait another year and go there). Do you know how it compares to the US top 10-20 and how competitive it is? And how is the quality? I assume you won't enter academia in the US with that degree, but for Europe and intl. organizations it should be top pretty good.
