The notion that a parasite can alter the behavior of a host organism is not mere fiction;indeed, the phenomenon is not even______________ A) Obervable B) real c) comprehended d) rare E) imaginable E. The thought/attitude developed in the first part continues.Fiction is imaginative work, however, here it is not even worth for fiction to consider that parasite alters the host behavior. Wanna1600
B. Observable? How can a phenomenon not be imagined - doesn't fit the blank per the way english is talked in true sense. phenomenon can not be observable - looks pretty ok But ofcourse this is GRE and I wouldn't shocked if the answer turns out to be 'rare' which is the least out of the 5, I would vote for. What's the OA sir?
rschunti
Answer is "d rare". What is the rational behind this answer?
bkAparna
Rare seems to be right, as sentance will be - parasite altering behavior of host is not fiction its reality , actually its very reguler not rare
goin4gre
IMO E Reason : The sentence says that our belief that parasite cannot alter the behavior is wrong ... since it is quite a regularly occurring process and hence NOT rare ! sandy22
analyze what will be the right answer? Also why other answer choices are wrong? {The notion that a parasite can alter the behavior of a host organism is not mere fiction}={S:[The notion that a parasite can alter the behavior of a host organism];V:[is];O:[not mere fiction]~~[real]} ;indeed, the phenomenon is not even___rare___________(the phenomenon does happen)
piyush.kansal
I also chose E but later found that the answer is D. Can anyone please suggest the logic of arriving at answer D?

MTAB1380
The answer is "RARE" It says that the phenomenon is not just fiction or based on thoughts.Had it been non-fictional it would have occurred not frequently but at least a minor number of cases would had been registered.
