  1. While I was applying to SDSU , they asked for the following document -Evaluation report. Applicants with foreign transcripts must submit an evaluation report to be considered for admission. An evaluation report determines how equivalent are your foreign studies to the US educational system. Credential Evaluation Pricing Please give your recommendations about which method is better
  2. This is another SOP(Majors : Software Engineering) I am pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science because it will give me a deeper understanding of the vast and rapidly changing field of computer science, and the tools to apply my knowledge more effectively. My undergraduate program introduced me to the basic concepts of all the engineering fields including mechanical, electrical, computer science, electronics and so on. As my schooling progressed, the versatile and facile nature of computers solidified my interest in it. I continued to develop a clear understanding of the basic concepts and acquire an insight into the Science of Computing. Over the last 2 years of my college, I started developing a special interest in the field of Software Engineering. After my 3rd year, I interned with HCL Infosystems for two months developing a web based Resume Submitter application. It was developed in Java Server Pages. By working on the project, I gained real life understanding of vital concepts like object-oriented Modelling, Problem Analysis Approaches, different phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), testing and Quality Assurance. This aroused my interest in the field of software engineering even further as I continued to update my knowledge by reading various research papers and books. As part of my final year project under Prof. Anita Sahoo, I designed and developed a fractal image compression algorithm. My algorithm was responsible for Fractal compression is a lossy image compression method using fractals. The method is best suited for textures and natural images where the parts of an image often resemble other parts of the same image. In the end, the project achieved its end goals and was judged as one of the top-3 projects in the university. After completing my studies, I joined HCL Technologies as a Software Engineer. I worked in a team of three members developing billing systems where my knowledge of Software Engineering was put to optimum use. The qualities of knowledge sharing, giving valuable suggestions established my reputation as valuable member of HCL family. My next project was to port the legacy File Transfer Mediator (FTM) system using Agile development process. The core functionality of FTM is transferring a file from source to destination with an intermediate step of downloading it to local system. The technique used is analogous to the store and forward idea found in the first of telecommunication. The existing system faced numerous issues including memory leak, bad naming conventions and low efficiency due to increased time complexity for in the file transferring algorithm. I increased the throughput of the system by implementing threadpooling in their core transfer module. While designing software design document , I gained further expertise in software documentation. My improvements which were spread across modules enabled the system to serve additional clients using the same hardware resources. I learnt that adhering to processes, design patterns, quality assurance are the key to good software. Subsequently, I contributed to the design and development of sitebook , a monitoring tool for OSS/Infrastructure domain. In sitebook we were working as a team of four developers placed world wide. My responsibilities in my project included making changes in the design and incorporate new features to make the application more attractive. I had the opportunity to interact closely with our customers. I played a pivotal role in implementing key features. The new system garnered rave reviews from project managers and has been continuously running in production with minimum manual interference. During my stint of 3.3 years, I learned about serviceability and functionality of various real world applications, observed and assisted in many developmental stages of software development, enhanced my capabilities as a team player and further grasped the utility of computer technologies in various departments. Software Engineering involves project planning, project management, systematic analysis, design, validations and maintenance activities. In the area of support for software development and evolution, the focus has been on the automation of key programming tasks to dramatically lower the bloated costs of software .Throughout my work, I have remained sincerely dedicated to excellence, driven by curiosity about this interesting field of Software Engineering. I believe that a dedicated study of Computer Science will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge and experience in the field and assist me in achieving my career goal. I am convinced that the facilities in the department of computer science in XXX college will be very useful for dedicated involvement in research projects. I believe that a graduate program in Computer Science in your University will help me to accomplish my goals. KANIKA MAHESHWARI

Over the last 2 years of my college, I started developing a special interest in the field of Database Management System. After my 3rd year, I interned with HCL Infosystems for two months developing a web based Resume Submitter application. It was developed in Java Server Pages and uses MS Access as its storage system. By working on the project, I gained real life understanding of vital concepts like transaction processing, relational, object database model, deadlocks etc. This aroused my interest in the field of databases even further as I continued to update my knowledge by reading various research papers and books. My next project was to port the legacy File Transfer Mediator (FTM) system to use new storage engine. The core functionality of FTM is transferring a file from source to destination with an intermediate step of downloading it to local system. The existing system faced numerous issues including poor schema design, slow queries, bad naming conventions. My improvements which were spread across modules enabled the system to serve additional clients using same hardware resources. I learnt that a good database is built with forethought and proper attention be given to the needs of the data that will inhabit it. Subsequently, I contributed to the design and development of Sitebook, a monitoring tool for OSS/Infrastructure domain. Sitebook uses MySQL and ORACLE XE for data management and provided me with opportunity to build a system with multiple databases for the first time. I played a pivotal role in implementing database housekeeping features to the system. The new system garnered rave reviews from project managers and has been continuously running in production with minimum manual interference. During my stint of 3.3 years, I learned about serviceability and functionality of various real world applications, observed and assisted in many developmental stages of software development, enhanced my capabilities as a team player. and further grasped the utility of computer technologies in various departments. I believe that a dedicated study of Computer Science will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge and experience in the field and assist me in achieving my career goal. I am eager to work under the guidance of the faculties on Database systems and Internet technologies. I am specifically interested in data integration applications that require search, querying and interaction with the information of multiple distributed sources, such as multiple Web sites. I am convinced that the facilities in the department of computer science at the your will be very useful for dedicated involvement in research projects.
