CanadianEcon
Hi all, Well the time has come and I will be sending masters applications out shortly. I plan on applying to the top Canadian MAs, some back ups and U of T and Westerns MFE programs. Any advice on crafting statement of interest letters will be greatly appreciated, Thanks! lindseybuck95
Hi CanadianEcon! I am in the process of applying to programs, so I don't know much more than you do, but I can tell you a little about what my professors have told me. Make sure to always keep to the page and word limits given to you. Try to craft your interests and planned projects according to the school (even if this changes or isn't necessarily what you want to do, writing that you're interested in a project that lines up well with their faculty and interests can be very important--they know and expect you to change ideas over time). My professors have also told me to name drop within the SOP--just a short sentence or two saying that you are interested in the work of X faculty member and would love to work with them can be helpful. These are just a few ideas that I was given and anyone can feel free to comment on them! Good luck! :)
