  1. How do GMAT examiners respond to the use of the first person (ie. "I believe...") in essays? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Safazal, could you explain how you got the equation for Stem 1...? I think I'm overlooking something. Thanks. The Answer is Correct: Both Stem gives the same Equation of Y=2X. Solve Stem1 XY/X+Y =2/3X, When you solve it you get Y=2X. Stem2 Gives you Y=2X. So Answer is E. Hope this helps....
  3. I agree with Bunny, I think the answer is B. 1/(x-1) = 0 1 = 0(x-1) No solution.
  4. C gives us no more information. We already know that it was contaminated.
  5. 1. D: to maintain the parallelism. 2. A: "as" is more idomatic as compared to "like"
  6. Hi, Can someone tell me why 'flatly' is wrong? Thanks.
  7. Agree with b_cassidy. There is a subject-verb agreement error in C, D and E.
  8. Can someone please explain the OA for question 1. I thought it was C. Thanks.
  9. Shouldn't the denominator be (50 + 10)? Would this be a 'real' GMAT question?
  10. I actually think its A, going against everyone who has posted already. The argument does not state that ALL studies show that people would want to be informed, it says several studies show, implying that there are those studies that indicate that individuals do not want to be informed of their illness. And so does not weaken the argument. I do think D weakens the argument because the survey indicates that "reasonable" people would want to know...suggesting to those taking the survey that if they do not answer a certain way, they are not reasonable. As a result, they are persuaded to answer a certain way causing the results of the survey to be biased. I might be way off here...but that's what I thought.
  11. Is there a way to answer this question without back calculating? Thanks!
  12. I agree with all the posts...1. D and 2. E. What are the answers?
  13. Thats right! The answer is 1260 ways. But I don't understand what you meant by the flags being the same?- Could you please explain further? [clap]
  14. Thanks for the warm welcome :D I'm looking to apply to several schools in Canada (Ivey, Rotman and Queens), in the US (Haas, Kellogg, Stanford) and abroad. My background is in Science and I'm looking to go into Healthcare management. What about yourself?
  15. Could someone guide me through the logic of this question? Thanks so much. How many different signals can be transmitted by hoisting 3 red, 4 yellow and 2 blue flags on a pole, assuming that in transmitting a signal all nine flags are to be used? :hmm:
  16. I'm new to the forum. =) Gonna apply to B-schools this fall and I'm writing the GMAT in a month or so. Looking forward to all the great advice!
