  1. Congratulations ! well done!
  2. JustMe, Do you live in california? I live in Santa Clara. I have Haas in my shortlist, but I am not very sure. I want to do full time and I would like to finish as fast as possible, because I may not be able to give 2 full years for MBA..some personal issues..So, right now I am still meeting with people/friends and trying to figure out what will suit me best.. thanks..
  3. JustMe, what schools are you applying to? I scored 710 the other day and still trying to shortlist the schools..
  4. my 2 cents on this.. My experience from Gmatprep has been the similar..I have consistently scored 49/50 in Quant with 7 or 8 errors.( alwyas 2 or less than 2 errors in first 20), but I scored 44 in verbal with 6 errors. In sum, my observation has been that initial question matter on quant, but for verbal overall mistakes matter.
  5. gmat_abc, Still working on the list of schools and i am not very well prepared from apps point of view yet (I know deadlines are very close). I am mostly looking out for ~1 year full time programmes anywhere in the world. I prefer US schools as I have been in US since last 6 years now, but I would consider myself blessed if I can get into INSEAD or similar quality based on my work experience and other positives.
  6. Anil, I replied to your message..plz check.
  7. Guys, I gave GMAT y'day and i am glad its over. I have been an 'inconsistent' poster on this board and my GMAT study has also been the same. Background ------------ Its been few years since I studied this hard. I am 28 yrs old with 7+ yrs of experience in IT consulting. I am working here in SF Bay Area since last 6 yrs and it was difficult to maintain consistency due to work pressure and travel. Test Experience ---------------- Overall good experience. Though I was expecting ~730 based on mock test scores, I am satisfied as I knew I made mistakes in verbal (in RC part). I had my test scheduled at 2 PM. I slept till 9 am and then I was reading some shortlisted CRs + MJJs till 1.10 PM. (Test center is at walkable distance from my aprt). Paperwork was easy. AWA argument was easy (I am generally good at argueing against something ;) ..), but issue was nasty..related to 'employee's should have right to design workplace..blah blah..I did not do well on the issue part. I had practised around 5 issues and 5 args.. Quant was about the same as GmatPrep and I did well as first 10 questions were very easy and I saved lot of time there. Verbal was OK (or rather easy), but I think I just folded under pressure..may be I was afraid of failure. SCs were easy and CRs was moderate, but I knew I did well on CR. I saw couple of known CRs. But I was guessing all the way on RCs. Preparation -------------- I studied for last 2 months, preparing from OG11 (did SC + CR multiple times), OG10 only for SC (did not finish), 1000 CR (no 1000 SC), Manahanttan SC, Kaplan 800 from Quant and Nov+Dec JJs for Quant, ScoreTop sets 1 to 25. Mock Tests: -------------- Princeton I - 660 Princeton II - 690 Princeton III - 700 Powerprep I - 710 Powerprep II - 710 (Entire verbal for both PP tests was from known questions during study) GPrep 1 - 700 Gprep 2 - 760 Gprep 3 - 760 (reinstall) Gprep 4 - 750 (day before G-day) Manhattan Tests ----------------- non CAT : 670, 690, 690 CAT : 710, 710, 740, 770, 800 , 740. I did most of the tests in last 10 days of the exam, except ScoreTop sets, which I did during practise. I took at least one test each day for last 10 days before G-day, sometime 2 full tests during a day. (I had taken off last 8 days) Thanks for reading the long post and I would like to thank ScoreTop and all the great posters, without whom I could not have done this. My special thanks to Erin/800Bob as usual, GMAT-HELP, clintonn, philospher, Skarya, Charu Mulye, KK-Del, Animesh etc. - thanks
  8. Skarya, First, I have seen your responses and you definitely deserve better score. Second, as everubody pointed out, I dont think 680 is bad score. Though I have not taken GMAT myself, I would suggest you should start working on the apps as early as possible. All the best for your next step.. thanks
  9. Very nice score..congratulations!!
  10. IMO D. Good one.. Stem says that novelists recognize as great literature the works of other novelists who achieve this goal. i.e. they recognize as great literature the works of novelists who have/had created their work with a desire to create a work of art. This implies, if any work was created without a desire to create a work of art, then that work is not a great literature. Now, stem says if any work becomes bestseller, then its not a a great literature. Only D explains it by saying, this is possible only if novelists assume that bestsellers are not created with a desire to create a work of art. OA plz.
  11. I think the best way would be to ignore Manh CAT's scores..but their question bank is good..so just concentrate on getting as many correct answers in Quant as possible (i mean initial 25 questions, later question are probably too easy) and make sure to commit less than 9 or 10 mistakes in verbal.
  12. Even I had choosen E for this question, but I agree C is correct answer. We are not allowed to think beyond what is given in CR questions..
  13. Even I will go with D. All other seem out of scope.
  14. I will choose D, between C and D. I feel C is wrong because C says second BF is an intermediate conclusion used to support the conclusion that argument criticizes. (i.e. commentator's conclusion), while second BF is actually used against the commentator's conclusion.
  15. D makes sense..good explanation by romit_z
