  1. Hi. Thank you. This is the message with my complaint letter that I posted on the other thread entitled "May 13th result from the Philippines". I just copy and paste it here for you. Goodluck to you. Hello everyone To those who are thinking of writing a letter as a support for their rescoring request, I urge you to go ahead and try. It is true that ETS most of the time will not change your score just because they dont want to be questioned of making mistakes in rating your test. But, if you at least write them about yourself and show them in your letter how deserving you are to receive 50, there's still a chance that they will rate your test 50. Me, myself had bad experience in taking TSE. I have taken this so many times but I've been getting 45. So finally, after I did everything... my part... like studying thoroughly for this test and studying all the review materials for this test and still getting 45, I wrote them a letter. I fought for my April test because I was very confident in my performance. That time, I was also scheduled for June so I also took June TSE. When I received their response, they said that my score for April did not change but you know what i got in my June test, 50. So to me, ETS did not pass my April test just so they will not be questioned on how inconsistent they are in rating a test but they still responded to me positively in rating 50 my June test because, I think, of the letter that I sent to them. This is definitely a case to case basis. This probably my case and it would be different than yours but I think it's still better to highlight yourself to ETS raters. There are a lot of people taking this test and we all know that ETS doesnt rate our test thoroughly and fairly so make yourself known and be noticed especially if you know that you deserved the score that you need. I shared my letter to some of the members here privately when I posted my message here before when I shared my experience. I asked whoever wanted to read my letter and use it as an example, i sent it to those who asked me. But right now, i decided to post it here in open. Maybe, it will motivate you and urge you to go for it and write a letter as long as you have a chance. If you know that you deserved to pass TSE, fight for it. Here's my letter: Name Registration # Address Tel. No. e-mail add Date Educational Testing Service Test Administration Services P.O.Box 6163 Princeton, NJ 08541-6163 Attention: TSE Complaints To Whom It May Concern: I am writing regarding the result of my TSE taken on April 15, 2006. It was my ninth attempt for this test and I received the score of 45 again. When I received the scores of 40 and 45 during my first few attempts, I accepted it because I did not have the knowledge about the test. My preparation at that time was not adequate and I was unable to perform well on the test. In my recent attempts, I thoroughly prepared myself and studied extensively every review material available for this test. I studied thoroughly for this test but I still received the score of 45. I grew up in a country where English is part of the school curriculum from elementary to college. English is a widely-used language in our culture. This has given me the advantage of being knowledgeable of the English language. In addition, I have been here in the U.S. for almost six yrs and have been exposed to English language. I do not have a heavy accent when I speak. Infact, it is barely noticeable and the evidence is in my recorded speech in the test. People have different tones of voice but I do not have a peculiar tone that is hard to understand. I was not speaking on the top of my lungs either during the test but loud enough to be heard and understood. I know I did not accomplish a perfect score of 60 because I made a few mistakes but I confidently feel that I reached and achieved the score of 50 in my April 20006 test. In the past, I sent emails to your institution to ask for feedback about my past tests and to learn about the criteria of the test but I have not received any comment. I studied extensively for this test to reach the score of 50 and receiving the score of 45 again in my latest attempt made me feel that this is a no win situation for me. I dont know what to do now because even my fellow colleagues, patients, friends and family believe that I do speak English well. I have taken so many examinations before and succeeded. I passed the U.S. licensure exam for PT and the TOEFL/TWE the first time I took it. This means that I do understand the English language very well. I would like to request your office to look into my case. There must be an error in the scoring of my test. I hope this time I will hear from you. I would appreciate an answer. I want to know if the recording under my name or registration number was in fact my voice. I would like to know how my test was evaluated and why there was no change in my score from my previous ttempts compared to my April 2006 tse where I answered the questions more competently. I have the right to ask for information concerning my application in your institution under the Freedom of Information Act in the USA. I have spent so much money because of this, not just by rescheduling over and over for this test but also by paying other institutions due to the delay in submitting this required test. This experience also has been psychologically tormenting and has caused so much anxiety and depression to my well being. I faxed a rescoring request form for this test on ____date___. Unlike other types of tests, TSE uses a subjective way of rating tests even though there is a guideline for it. For this reason, I would like to ask for your kind consideration in rescoring my test. Thank you very much for your time and consideration of this matter. Any suggestion or feedback regarding this matter would be greatly accepted. Sincerely, Me If anyone wanted to make this as a sample, you may do so but please dont copy and send it to ETS word for word. Your situation and experience would definitely different than mine. I hope this will help to those who are still have the chance to fight for their score. Goodluck and God bless.
  2. Hi grtse2006. I enclosed the complaint letter in my message that I posted in the thread that's entitled, "May 13th result from the Philippines". Just try to find it there. I will try if i could copy and paste the letter from that thread to this thread.

  4. Hi there. You know what, it's nothing new. That's normal to ETS. They will say you should be receiving your score after 3 weeks or 4 weeks but expect that you will receive it by the 5th or 6th week. They're never true in what they are saying and what they are doing... like rating our test. Goodluck and God bless to you.
  5. Hi wishtopass. Thank you for your greetings. To answer your questions, I never had a chance to take a course offered for TSE. I just learned about the Jack Rose course when I was searching the internet for reviewers for TSE. I just purchased the Jack Rose book with cd's and studied it thoroughly. I live far from California to go for the lecture. I dont know much about the Bruno Hill course. I just read something about it from the links posted here by Knok (member here who posts important and useful information about TSE) I also used the Toward Speaking Excellence book by PapaJohn. Another one is the book called Mastering the new Toefl Speaking & TSE. I dont know the name of the author. I just learned this book from one of the posted messages here in the forum and asked around to my friends and borrowed the xerox copy of the book from my friend. Those books that I mentioned are my resources in studying the test. I did not attend any pronounciation or grammar class but I tried to speak English all the time. Based on my experience, I cant tell you what the raters really are looking for to grade us 50. I believe you have to speak slowly and clearly but not very slow. Avoid long pauses. If you were not able to finish your answer I guess its ok as long you were able to speak and say your comment or at least give one answer about the question. For me, it's easy to answer the questions when I follow the format in answering the types of questions in TSE suggested in the review books. There will always be a difference in speaking between a non-native and a native speaker of English but I guess we just have to try our best to minimize our native accent in speaking English. That's why its very important to always speak in English wherever you are and whoever you are talking with. One thing I know for sure, TSE is a very unfair and unjust test that its hard to know what are the things we really have to do in order to get 50. Just like in my June test, I know I made a lot of mistakes there but I got 50 but in my April, I was spontaneous in answering the questions. I was able to prepare for it better and answered the questions competently but you know what I got in that test, 45. About the toeflibt, I have not taken it before so I cant tell you the difference between the two. I just wish all the best for you. I hope that you will receive the scores that you need either for TSE or Toeflibt. God bless. Crystalclear
  6. Hi everyone. Most of you might not know me but some of you might still recognize me. I stopped posting messages for awhile because I was devastated and brokenhearted when i received my April TSE result. I was saying before that I will received 50 for my April TSE because of my confidence to God and confidence that I got from the help of this forum. I saw the test in advance here for April and performed well that it even makes me more confident that I will get 50 without a doubt. When I received the 45 again for that test date, I was depressed but at the same time I thought I have to do something. I wrote a letter to ETS about the result because I think it's worth fighting for. I waited for more than a month for their answer. I received their answer the same time I received my June result because I took the June TSE also. It's another strange situation just like other people here shared that they received 50 in the test they are least expected to be graded 50. I got 50 in my June test but for my April test, their answer is that there was no change in my score. I think that TSE does not have any standard grading system. It's all about subjective scoring and more likely about meeting their quota for the month that will pass the TSE. It's not about individual performance or capability at all. The bottomline is, TSE is an unfair and unjust test. Eventhough TSE is over or almost over in other parts of the world, it still has left behind so much hurts to most of us. Our only hope is in our God. We have to keep trusting Him because He knows the best for us. He will answer our prayers not in the time that we wanted but in His perfect time. For those who will continue to Toeflibt, I wish you all the best and may all God's graces be with you. Toeflibt may be totally different from TSE but keep in mind that you are still dealing with the same institution... ETS. Please be careful. One suggestion, if you know that you've achieved something or passed a test already, fight for it. Let ETS know you and recognize you above all but not in a bad way. Dont give them a chance to perceive you as a below average person. Eventhough we are foreigners in this land, we still can shine. Show them yourself as a professional and confident individual either in communicating with them by phone or by letter. I can share the "complaint" letter that I wrote to ETS if there would be anyone who will be interested in reading my letter. Just let me know. Maybe it's still not too late to make it as an example for you to write a complaint to ETS or follow up if you are trying to request for a rescoring for June if there's need for anyone. Once again, I would like to thank all the members of this forum. Thank you to the creator of test magic. Thank you to the unselfish and just plain good people here who share their love, care and affection. Not the least, I thank and praise God for His blessings. With prayers, Crystalclear "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall."
  7. Tomrai Im so happy for you!!! I just came back from vacation and I got a very good news too. I also passed. I got 50. Thank God! Praise God! After I sent them the letter of my complaint that I told you. I passed the June 2 not the April 15 where I am more confident and I know that I answered the questions better. Anyhow, Im still grateful that I finally received 50. I wanted to thank all the people here in the forum. From the bottom of my heart thank you. Thank you to the creator of the test magic. Thank you to the members. Crystal clear [goodjob]
  8. Thank you. I have not receive my result yet. :luck2: Congratulations to others who got their 50!!!
  9. Hello. Im sorry to hear that. I'm starting to get a little nervous. Can I ask what state or what country you were when you take the test?...because I have not receive mine yet. Thank you. I wish you the best in your next test. God bless.
  10. I just wanted to say that I agree with Knok and rpt2be. Everything that they have said is all in behalf of the majority of the people in this forum. I said majority not all because few others who are in this forum do not have good intentions. Their main purpose is for the people here not to succeed in the tse...or just advertising.... or just to cause troubles to others. We know our situations and we know what we need and that's the TSE only. And, as long as we have the chance for tse, we will take it.
  11. Congratulations to you! God is Awesome!
  12. Congratulations to you! God is awesome! :)
  13. I just wanted you to know that I'm not questioning your intention at all. You are just sharing what you have experienced and the effective approach for you for this test. Definitely, there are people that will learn from that and relate to that because you have point. I just thrown in or added that people has different ways of dealing with things. I wish that you will receive the score that you need in this test. Goodluck and God bless to you too. Hi Sanview. You have point too, and also funny... :) incorporating you're tse practice in your message. :) God bless.
  14. Thank you indospurfan! We appreciate your care. We pray and wish the best for yourself too. :)
