  1. I did my GMAT yesterday and got 680. The score is Q loaded with 49 and a bad score from V at 34. What do you guys think? SHould I retake?
  2. I just got back from my Pearson. Scored 680 with the above split. Well, as you can tell from my user name, I was aiming for 700. I understand that 680 is not a bad score. but the split b/t V and Q is ver bad. Do you guys think I should take the exam again? I would be so happy if I scored 700. really....
  3. Although people in France consume fatty foods at a rate comparable to the United States, their death rates from heart disease are far lower in France. people in France consume fatty foods at a rate comparable to the United States, their people in France and the United States consume fatty foods at about the same rate, the fatty foods are consumed by people in France at a comparable rate to the United States’s, their the rate of fatty foods consumed in France and the United States is about the same, the the rate of people consuming fatty foods is about the same in France and the United States, theOA:
  4. are power prep and gmat prep different?
  5. I think it's E. In the first sentence, the author's argument is that Artificial is better than Natural. So to attack that it would mean building is bad for nature. The author then would defend, it's not bad b/c building is to improve.
  6. C is correct. Your approach is also correct, except you switch Steve and Joyce. Joyce is the one who's traveling at 63 floors per minute. so the 21 floors of them traveling together should be subtracted from 51 and not added to 11. The answer is 51-21=30. If you calculated the other way around for steve, then it's 57/min *1/3min=19. 11+19 = 30. same answer.
  7. M stands for Michael, and A stands for Anthony. W,X,Y,and Z represent the other 4 There are 20 ways you can form 2 groups with 3 people from the 6, simple combination. for the subcommittee, M-A (when they are on the same team) can be paired with the other four like this: m-a w m-a x m-a Y m-a z So there are 4 ways to form subcommittee 1. THe same applies to the formation of committee 2, so in total, there are 8 ways to form the subcommittee. So the answer is 8/20-->40%
  8. A for me b/c if the restriction only applies to domestic animals then the patent for this new mouse should be granted. B-the first by the university, doesn't mean the reviewers can't reject it as long as the mouse is a new variety E-if the reviewers rejected the new variety before, they would again regardless the method. THe method of creating the new variety is not of concern. THe other choices strengthens the argument.
  9. POE takes me to A too.
  10. The claim made here is that intuition decision making is better than methodical because top managers use it more. So, think of it as, what if top managers are always making wrong decisions, then intuition decision making is not so effective. But if top managers are in fact more effective decision makers and they use intuition all the time, then intuition decision making is more effective. this is the assumption made here A is not right b/c it says “ inappropriate for making real-life management decisions”. But Middle or lower lever mgrs use it all the time so it’s not inappropriate. The claim made here is that intuition decision making is better than methodical because top managers use it more. 12. Can someone explain why A is not the right answer?
  13. C -- b/c E is exactly why the officer's claim is wrong. The officer is saying the the pharma division is growing stronger because it's contribution to overall performance grew from 20% to 45%. But this growth is b/c the chemical underperformed. So the pharma division could have had the same profit from last year, but % grew b/c it's of a smaller pie.
  14. for SC, try Manhattan GMAT; the material is pretty comprehensive.
  15. A 1 is sufficient b/c this would mean the difference of each tank from the mean is the same as before. So the variance is the same and the standard deviation is the same. 2 is insufficient b/c we don't know how much is removed from each tank.
  16. what is the correct idiom to use "on" and "upon" with depend?
  17. I am taking on Sept 12th. I am kinda nervous about this exam b/c some problems are pretty tricky. I am currently using the 11th ed. of OG. and will practice with PowerPrep (downloaded from mba.com). For those who are in NYC, you should sign up soon if you haven't done so. I just signed up today and 1st and 2nd weeks are full.
  18. Interesting to see that someone with a 600 score, 2.5 AWA and a 3.0 GPA was accepted by a few top schools.
  19. Why "with the intention to sustain" wrong?
  20. D is the right answer. it has to be either D or E b/c remains, but the use of thus in D is wrong. This question is previously discussed.
