  1. Dear Friends, Thanks for your responses .... I am preparing a debrief ... will post it soon pankajkandhar: Don't sweat it, there is no much you can do about RC, and you don't need to do much anyway, it is straight forward. you just need to focus and get in the right mood on the exam day, be sure you are rested. DO NOT skim through the passage, as KAPLAN and PR recommend, read carefully, but fast. and make sure that you understand the first paragraph thoroughly, it sets the main idea and the tone. The rest of the passage will be much easier. Use the break before verbal section to fresehen up, drink coffe or whatever, just keep yourself at your omptimum level, it is imperative that you do so. For time saving tips, try to spend less time on your area of strength, and NEVER reread questions UNLESS you are stumped and you can afford to spend more time. For me, i spent less time on SC, whenever I spotted an error, I eliminaated and moved on, no need to read the whole fragment, especially when there is a 3-2 split . GREMAT : My scores were pethetic ! First GPREP was 670! second was 720. But to be fair, I tried both of the exams after i came from work, so I was exhausted.
  2. Got my official Report, Total Score: 760 Quant: 49 90% Verbal:44 97% AWA: 5.5 87%
  3. A For the first: (A) just as it had once been among the Russian aristocracy CORERCT: "it" has a clear antecedant, "as" correctly introduces the clause. just as it had once been among the Russian aristocracy replacing the pronoun with the antecedent: just as (French) had once been (Spoken) among the Russian aristocracy (B) Like can not introduce a clause. © just as Russian aristocracy had once done had once done what ? this would be a viable option if the sentence said " Egyptians speak French, but since this is not the case, the option is not correct. (D) Same error as C (E) like can not introduce a clause. ------------- Second Sentence There are hopeful signs that we are shifting away from our heavy reliance on fossil fuels: more than 10 times as much energy is generated through windpower now than it was in 1990. b) generated through windpower now as it was c) generated through windpower now as was the case d) now generated through windpower now as it was b)CORRECT: generated through windpower now as (energy) was (generated) C)Copmarison: as much as the case ? it is like saying: i am twice as old as was the case 10 years ago. I hope it is obvious. d) now generated through windpower now as it was now .... now ? redundant. if you remove the first "now", this options ends up like b.
  4. Thanks guys for you responses, But, I agree with the OA, or D it is not why I posted this thread. You have to agree with the OA since, to quote a thread i read yesterday, You can't dispure GMAC OA, Erin or Bob. So, please post meaningful comments or not at all. Announce does not need to be parallel with represent.
  5. One automobile manufacturer has announce plans to increase the average fuel efficiency of its sports utility vehicles by 25 percent over the next five years, amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and representing the first significant change in the fuel efficiency of any class of passenger vehicle in almost two decades. A. amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and representing B. amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, and it would represent C. an increase that would amount to roughly five miles per gallon and it would represent D. an increase that would amount to roughly five miles per gallon and would represent E. which is increase amounting to roughly five miles per gallon, representing OA: I don't understand why "amounting" is wrong, sure it sounds a little off, but it is grammatically correct, isn't it ? what is being tested here ?

  7. Greetings All, do you need to get all the questiongs right in order to get 51 in quant ? I am asking this because I have missed 9 questions in quant in Gmatprep and still got 50. so, does anyone know ?
  8. the answer is A imo. D and E, " ... have found evidence to suggest .." is unidiomatic. C, " ... have found evidence suggesting.." is unidiomatic. B .. Had desenced is incorrect tense. A is the best answer
  9. The answer is could be C or E. if n is taken from the bag, then the answer is C. if it is not necessarily so, then the answer is E. Statement 1 tells us that the pool is 10. but since we don't know n, we can't know the prime factos. Statement 2 tells us that n has one prime factor only, but we don't know how many balls are there. Taking both statements together we know that n has 1 prime factor, and there are 10 balls, thus, the probability is 1/10. statements 1 and 2 taken TOGETHER are sufficient.
  10. The asnwer is A IMO. The sentence has a reversed order, which is grammatically correct. The sentence rewritten in regular order: Mass production is feasible only when a product is demanded by sufficiently large numbers of people .
  11. Guys, I have a problem here. There a quesion in the OG in which one the answers is uses "in that". The choice is wrong because, according to the OG, "in that" is stilted and out of use. Now, why is that not the case for this question ?
  12. tieuphong, would you care to explain why you choose C? What's wrong with other choices ?
  13. I would go for A. B: Having ... Being ... C: "Too low of a dosage of a prescribed drug" is poor construction. the use of "being" is poor style. D: they have been or were E: Have a drug prescriptin ... or been Your comments please
  14. Complex numbers are out of GMAT's scope, since the subject of imaginary numbers does not fall under "Arithmetics" nor any other subject covered by GMAT.
