Could any of u suggest univs considering the above facts? 3. thank u again..my first RC question was some 30 to 40 lines was the 8th question....
  4. thanks :) well i think i did well in the first 20 questions in verbal which included 2 RCs ..so guess tat boosted my score..so it din matter even though i din bother to read the last RC which had a mere 2 questions.
  5. People thanks for all your help although i shoud have gotten a perfect score..anyway am happy.i just want to emphasize onething ..COMPLETE THE SECTION no matter what.Otherwise math was not so difficult as some people say....i had a deluge of co-ordiante geometry questions..i was surprised... infact i think the first 7 questions or so were co-ordinate geometry..0- probabilty 0-permutation(uff i spent quite some time on those topics)graphs were a lil trickly ..i did not understand the english in one of the graph questions..he he thought i was readin some other language..some thing like 'not more than ....atleast 'all these words together and i spent quite some time on it! result---had no time in the end and the questions were temptingly simple..so i worked some questions in the end which i dint have the heart to guess...AND!! it spits out your time is over :(.. Any way this forum was quite a learning experience .Thanks again!
  6. Dear all!! I am just back from the testing center and logged on to testmagic to just say this THANK YOU.To begin with, i was a sad person when i had joined this forum a couple of months back as i had majorly messed up gre.i made 1210 q-710 and verbal-500 .I was in a dilemma whether to take again or not although i knew i was capable of a much higher verbal score. But since i messed up quants section,i was in no mood for the verbal section and so lost badly .But as i joined this forum and read the success stories of so many people i made up my mind. That was NOT my score.First time i hardly prepared for math ...thought it was a cakewalk...but during the exam i realised it was no joke...it was challenging ..so this time i ditched verbal i knew i was fairly good at it.A good frame of mind would surely earn me a good verbal score.SO past one month i have been diligently workin out the problems posted on this forum and i should thank the magicians for clearing all my doubts. Now for the testing experience First issue... then arg.. no problems topics were simple then math section it was very easy in the beginning ..got a lil tricky in the middle...i made a mistake ..and listen to me NEVER do this..i did not complete the math section. You are severely penalised for not completing and that is why i cud make only 770 although i was aiming for 790 if not 800.jus wildly guess the last few questions if u run out of time Verbal!!!! Man it was damn easy!!! only barron words....straight answers!...but in verbal i was thoroughly doing a RC question when the clock indicated i was in major trouble something like 18th question and 5 minutes left...then on i was in great hurry ..last RC had 2 questions (24th and 25th) and i din even read!!i jus clicked something so i had time for the remaining questions which were simple antonyms and analogies. Well this is a major improvement compared to my previous score..although am slightly disappointed with math...Any way one final word which u might be hearing for the millionth time on this forum STAY CALM OR FORGET A HIGH SCORE Feel free to ask any thing !
  7. thanks :) i have a question do i have to know any conversions for gre like pound ,ounce etc?
  8. thanks mahm pray 4 me too ..sort of tensed
  9. sum of any 2 sides>third side difference of any two sides jus use this

  11. The University of Claria is generally considered one of the best universities in the world because of its instructors' reputation, which is based primarily on the extensive research and publishing record of certain faculty members. In addition, several faculty members are internationally renowned as leaders in their fields. For example, many of the faculty from the English department are regularly invited to teach at universities in other countries. Furthermore, two recent graduates of the physics department have gone on to become candidates for the Nobel Prize in Physics. And 75 percent of the students are able to find employment after graduating. Therefore, because of the reputation of its faculty, the University of Claria should be the obvious choice for anyone seeking a quality education. The argument that university of claria would be the best choice for education based on the facts provided is not entirely convincing. The reasons provided for the reputation of the university are not substantial enough to conclude that it is the best university. To begin with, deciding the reputation of a university based on the instructers' reputation is illogical. The instructers may be doing excellent research in their respective fields. But that does not imply that the students enrolled will get quality education.Infact the instructers could be pre-occupied with their own research work and may neglect to give proper education to the students. So just the fact that the instructors have published papers or are nobel prize candidates does not conclusively prove that the university of claria is the best of its kind. Also the fact that some of the faculty members teach in other countries regularly only implies that some of the best staff members are not regularly available in the University of claria.Effectively this could be considered a drawback rather than an advantage. Also even if it is accepted that the instructors' reputation is directly related to the quality of education in the university, the author has failed to mention the proportion of reputed instructors. The author's ambiguous phrases like 'several faculty members','many of the faculty' dont precisely quantify the number of reputed instructors. As terms such as several and many are relative. What if the university is small one with a few faculty members.Had the number of faculty members who are renowned for their research contrubution been mentioned it would have been more convincing. Also the author speaks solely in terms of the achievements of the university of claria without comparing with other universities .There might be other bigger universities whose staff also have equal or better credentials.A larger proportion of the staff in those universities may be renowned for their research work.So it is not entirely convincing when the author asserts that Claria is the best university without showing how it differs from other universities.Had the author given more information about the ranking of Claria among the universities, comparative data about the achievement of staff of the various universities,it would have been more acceptable that claria is indeed the best choice for quality education. Also the author's statement that 75% of the students find employment after graduating is rather vague. The author must have given more information about the kind of employments the students get.Whether they get employment in a firm relevant to their field of education, whether they get employment in a reputed firm, etc.Just that 75% of the students got employment is not encouraging without knowing specific details about the type of employment. If another university A's statistics shows that only 50% of its students got employed but those who were employed were absorbed into the best companies(unlike claria) in the respective fields, then chances are prospective students may find University A a better choice than Claria. In sum ,if the author had given more information about the proportion of reputed faculty members, comparative reputation of university of claria and also the kind of employment ,etc his argument that Claria is the best choice for quality education would have been more convincing.

  14. 5)In a class of 100, the mean on a certain exam was 50, the standard deviation, 0. This means a. half the class had scores less than 50 b. there was a high correlation between ability and grade c. everyone had a score of exactly 50 d. half the class had 0's and half had 50's ans : A zero standard deviation means all scores are the same, and equal to the mean hey how cud u say tat? for eg take nos 1 2 3 4 5 mean =3 SD=0 does it mean all scores are same? also in one of the questions u find z=-2 ...and use the table value for z!! do v have to kno those values??

  17. 1.hey am getting 50% for this if originally SP=x ,after discount it is .75x...if y is the CP since u get a profit of 25% ,1.25y=.75x y=0.6x ,so now if discount is 10%,SP=0.9x so profit%=(profit/CP)*100 =(.9x-.6x)/.6x *100 =50% correct if am wrong! 3.i get 20 men as answer Men DAys x-----------10 x-10--------20 men and days inversely proportional x/(x-10)=20/10 x=20 5. P(1+(10/2)/100))^2(1)-((P*1*10/100)+P)=25 if u solve P=10000
  18. please explain why my answer is wrong ..these are frm princeton too

1.just mark the arcs and trace the paths systematically,,i cud not think of any other way 2.it's a question of direct variation if x be the side of the cube, a volume of x^3 weighs 6 pounds so (2x)^3=8x^3 weighs 8 times as much as the previous cube =8*6=48 3.Since it starts and ends with posts, number of posts always one greater than number of chains.Consider there are x chains so there are x+1 posts total length will be of form 5x+(x+1)/2 =(11x+1)/2 now look at the answers and see if they satisfy this form twice the answer must be a multiple of 11 plus 1 A.17*2=11*3+1 B.28*2=11*5+1 D.39*2=11*7+1 E.50*2=11*9+1 only c does not satisfy this format
