  1. It depends on a lot of things: 1) What schools kind of schools are you looking at? 2) Are you expecting to get funding from universities? The deadlines for most masters/PhD programs range from Dec1 st to June 1st. If you are planning on making a Feb 15 deadline, you should take your GRE by mid-December. Hope it helps :-)
  2. try esnips.com and avaxsphere.com
  3. Don't panic. I am taking my GRE around the same time and I have not even gone through half the list. But it should not be that bad. Keep your hopes up :-)

What edition of the Word Smart did you use? I have the Word Smart I and I. I have the older editions of the Word Smart-most probably from 2004 ( when I was taking SAT). Do you recommend buying the new editions? Thanks
  5. I don't know what kind of schools you are looking into. You said you want to study at some good univeristy. Then even if you are talking about some second tier university, I think you should at least have a combined score of 1200 ( if you want funding from the college). Otherwise, I think you can get into schools with that score. I know this girl who got into the masters program of NYU with a 1050. But she got no funding. All I'm trying to say if you take your GRE in november, the prep time you would get, would not be enough to have a significant increase in your score. I hope it helps :-)
  6. Where in Bangladesh are you at? Have you thought about taking any prep courses? They are not that expensive in Dhaka. I have heard Mentors is good. :-) My brother is taking his SAT prep course there and I have heard good things from him.
  7. I think you should at least wait till december to re-take it. Just my opinion
  8. It depends on which schools you are looking at. For it varies from mid- december to June ( depending on the ranking of the school, ranking of the program, etc). But if you want to apply for fall 2009, I think you should take your GRE asap if you have good preparation. I would end up taking my GRE late november or early December ( I should have taken it earlier but I haven't got much studying done).

barrons has the word list and I think it's the most comprehensive GRE word list I have seen so far. As for Kaplan, I only have the premiere version and I think it's good for the verbal. But for math I think Barrons is the best.
  10. I was supposed to take my GRE this month. But I could not study for GRE the last couple of months. And I want to apply for fall 2009 PhD. I think I will end up taking GRE in november, which would give me almost no time to retake it if I have to. I am trying to cram 3 word lists from Barrons per day. Don't know what am I going to do :-(
  11. HI, I think you should change the first sentence of the first paragraph. I liked the organization of your essay. But there were some grammatical errors. Anyhow, good luck with the test. :>

  13. hmmm...interesting ...had no clue about this thing
  14. [clap]Good job Geek. I am struggling with Verbal. What books did you use for Verbal? Thanks and good luck with your applications.
  15. Your essay is very well organized. You provided strong arguments to support your claim. And I think you transitioned from one paragraph to another very smoothly. There were 2/3 minor grammatical error. If you re-read your essay, you will be able to figure them out yourself. :>
