  1. I asked... 1. What are some of the suprises you found out after you got in Kellogg? 2. How has Kellogg experience changed your career? 3. What are the reasons that made you you pick Kellogg? Good luck.
  2. ? You submitted application in May...is it for 2005? There is a deadline for each of two rounds each year. If they decide to accept you, you may receive the decision within a few weeks before the deadline. All rejection letters are sent out "conveniently" on the decision date. Good luck.
  3. I just finished my interview with Kellogg and I would say it went pretty well. My interviewer, a 1998 alumni, started the interview with introducing herself (a very friendly warm up) and then reviewed my resume and asked a few questions from my resume (how did I achieve this and that. my current job capacities, my hobbies/music background), and then she asked me about why I want to go to Kellogg and why is it a good match for me. I showed her some photographs of my extracurricular activities and some old photos that demonstrated my root, China. Then, I asked her a couple questions and to my surpirse, she provided me with information that was very helpful in terms of me understanding the insight of the school. The interview lasted for about 40-45 mins and I really enjoyed the conversation. One thing I should have done is to print some of my sample works because it (web) is visual and demonstrates a lot about companies that I worked for. So, I am writing a thank-you email to her and consider including my profolio link. Anyone else is in the mist of interviewing with MBA schools? I would love to hear from you and exchange ideas with you. AlixJung@hotmail.com . Thanks.
  4. Hi, Laura: It was a face-2-face interview. The questions I received were: - What are your most proud achivements? - What determines a successful vs faileur projects according to your experiences? - What do you do for fun? - Demonstrate your leadership potentials. Give an example of your recent leadership experience. Chicago is my favorite city in the US. I grew up on the other side of the globe with similar wheather; so winter is acceptable/preferred in order for my body to feel an annual four-seasons. The best thing I like about Chicago is its culture, diversity, down-to-earth people and its relatively strong job market. In the summer, Chicago is very beautiful for its Michigan lake as well as famous skyline. I've been here for about 8years and wouldn't mind stay here the rest of my life. :)
  5. I finished the interview and it was pretty good. He asked about leadership, chatted about my experiences/achievements/background (pretty much essay content)... One thing I was not prepared was "what do I do for fun?" I didn't know where to start so I just told him about my ice-skating plan that same afternoon. The admissions is also matching your personality with the rest of the class. So, besides academia and professional experiences, the "fun" question is a great way to demonstrate personalities. The interview was a little over half an hour.
  6. Liffyun's reply is very good. In addition, you are clear of what/why you want to acquire a program as theirs and believe that now is the time. You applied multiple schools in attempt to secure such a learning opportunity at this time of your life.
  7. I scheduled an Interview with University of Chicago and it's going to be next Monday, Martin Luther King day. I have not yet submitted my application to UC yet. What should I prepare to maximize my interview experience? UC is not my top prioirty but I want to get interview experiences so I would be more prepared for those favorite schools of mine. Will my UC interview help me build experiences for other schools' interviews?

    Would you cheat?

If you are smart, why would destroy your integrity/reputation by cheating on a test? Where/what is the temptation? 1 million dollar would be a temptation. A test, could be a fun game.

    priceless

FUNNY!! :D:D:D To me, all cars look the same (except one type of Porche.) I bought my car, a hybrid car, mainly because half of its back wheels are covered making it look like a space ship. I was so excited that I didn't even know it's hybrid until some weeks later some stranger yelled to me on a highway "Do you charge your car every night?" Every pair of shoes is TRULY different.
  10. I really like the story. The 2nd edition is surely better from a writing stand point of view. The 1st edition is however simply cute. Did you get an A+++ (A duper-plus)?
  11. I visited the New Oriental School myself in Beijing. It's an INSTITUTION (not just a borrowed floor of testing prep center) but I am not sure whether they can afford a $1.21 million fine. It is THE most predominent testing preparation center in China and does provide a broad selections of services to pass all kinds of exams and to improve students English level. If the New Oriental School indeed violated the copyright law, it should pay the big fine and it will be a famous warning for the rest of China.
  12. I was browsing the forums and accidentall picked up some great quotes. When studying GMAT, a lot of times it's attitude and confidence that drive the scores up so I thought a quote forum would benefit people here in general, regardless what exams they are taking. Here are a few to start. Please feel free to share your favorite quotes here! 1. "Study Your Lessons, Don't Settle For Less" 2. "Even The Genius Asks Questions." 3. "Reality Is Wrong, Dreams Are For Real." 4. "Why settle for the rest when we can work for the best." (I came up this one, inspired by some great content on this site.)
  13. What is the difference to have your friends comment on your essays vs asking the essay editing services to give you a 2nd opion? I interpret Stanford's comments as: it is important that the essays are comming out of ourselves and we should not rely on editing services. There must be applicants paying an editing service company a package fee to do their work and ending up with a noticably unvivid application.
  14. How did you do in AWA? When I was writing my Argument essay, I edited half sentence and did not have time to edit the other half. So, one of my sentence was making no sense, but, to my suprise, I got 6.0. I took my GMAT on 10/3 (Friday) and my score were printed on 10/6 (Monday). It looks like the only computers graded my awa.

    800score.com?

I took the exams and got some depressing scores, which actually motivates me to study harder. But the fact is that those exams are only some extra practises; they do not represent typical GMAT exams, to my opion. V-Study questions represent typical GMAT exams although the test format is pre-CAT.
  16. One more thing. Some schools ask you to report two entries of your GMAT score if you took GMAT more than once. When you enter two scores, you complicate your application by raising a question "why did you take it again?" Is it good to have a CLEAN excellent score, or is it good to have a story behind two excellent scores? If I were an admission officer, I would prefer the first one (and be very pleased) and focus my curiosity energy on some more colorful subjects such as your work experiences and hobbies.
  17. Did you retake it? I read your post before and actually admired your willingness to achievie your very best regardless what others say. However, I read an article on this forum. It's from Stanford Admissions; it says they rejected all their 800 GMAT applicants. I guess my point is that 770 is sufficiently high enough. By retaking it, you gained your own satisfaction but, objectively, does not really contribute anything extra to the strength of your applicaion. Maybe it's wiser to spend that energy sharpening your essays and recommendation letters, so they are both worth 770 or higher. That's how I feel frankly.
  18. What I grabbed from this article: 1. I hope the 800gmat applicants are not rejected because they got 800. I assume their working experiences or other aspects of the applications are not strong. 2. It's probably good if an applicant worked for many companies. Although most employers want loyalty, those who jump a lot between companies obtains a variety of industry experiences, which may be attractive to B-schools. 3. Gosh, it's so competitive.
  19. I am reading... How to get into top MBA programs it sure worth more than $24 that I paid for.
  20. Have you applied? Two years of experiences sounds a little bit short, BUT it all depends on the quality of your experiences and your other activities. I think how well your application (especially essay and recommendation letters) come together would matter a lot.
  21. Why is it valuable? Please share with us about what are the memebership benefits. Thanks!
  22. First time hearing about the "trick." Even if the school receive all your score history, they will see the improvement you've made. I asked some expert about my history of GMAT scores and he said most of the top 10 schools only consider your latest score.

    Loan

I heard that if you are accepted by top 10 school, you would have no problem getting loan for the education because banks will be chasing you (to make money of you.) However, I know someone who graduated from Chicago. She advised me to avoid loaning money from bank unless there is no other options.
  24. HBS MBA deadline is early January so you would be just in time. You don't have to report awa score prior to applying. You just have to complete your GMAT. I don't see a disadvantage for taking GMAT at a last minute. I don't think the Admissions Committees care about that. They care about a good score and a solid application.
