  1. A is correct those means "braincases" The braincases of Neanderthals were longer, lower and wider than "those" of modern humans (were) For example The wheel of a car is heavier than that of a bycicle
  2. I think A is correct There are two species of large mammals once dominated (that used to dominate) the North American prairies: the American bison and the pronghorn antelope Dominated here is in past tense means "used to dominate" Rgds
  3. Hi, A is correct because of parallel structure. But I don't know why we use "is" as main verb here. This sentence has two subjects: Restating ... and using... -> "is" should be "are". otherwise if we use "is", we should say: Restating ... or using... is called Pls explain this TKS

    problem

Yeah, I find nothing wrong with "C". The correct answer should be "D" "because" => "because of" Cheers
  6. ____________________________________________________________ 3) The brightly colored kingfisher that perches until it sights a fish, then dives into the water to catch its prey. ____________________________________________________________ Hi every one, I agree "that perches" should be change to "perches". But I still confuse with "the water". Does it mean the water where the prey appears => use "the water" istead of "water" only??? How do you explain this case? Thanks
  7. Quoted by Hippo 3.I'd say C. "involved" should be changed to "involving" It is projects which involve laboratory, not visa versa. hi, could anyone please explain me why we should change "involved" to "involving" in this case. Thanks a lot VPOS406
  8. Yeah, i also think A "as sweeteners" is the best answer here But is it OK if I change it to "among sweeteners" What do you think about it Cheers! [dance]
  9. Hi! Moonseeker, I have finished the tests. And my answer for Q3 is A, Q13 is B. For the Q3, i think there's something wrong with the Q. Because it should be "The harder the test is, the better i do". As for Q13, Victoria and British Columbia are just names of places. So they can not know sth. Instead, they should be known. So i think B is right. As for Q7, the whole sentence is "Neil Armstrong became the first person (who was) walking on the moon". So the answer is A. I don't know if i have explained it clearly for you or not, but i hope it will help. If you do have different opinions from mine, please tell me...... Best wishes, Kirting Thank Kirting. Oh, I see. I think The answer of Q 7 must be A. [banana] Hi, Yeah Q7 the answer is A. Q3 is A and Q13 is B as mentioned by Kirting. But I am now wondering about Q5, is the answer C correct "I would like to know is she coming?" Could you please explain me does it make sense and which of the A & C is better?:shy:
  10. Hi Moonseeker, that is my oppinion, too "much windier" is correct Best rgds vpos406 [banana]
  11. [*] [*] [*] Hi Hippo, thanks for your kindly response. so when do you want to take GMAT Suppose you want to take higher edu in economic field!!! Thanks again and Best regards VPOS406
  12. Hi Hippo Congratulation on your result Compare the score of your REAL test to score you ussually get in practice, are they different a lot. Which section(s) seem to be much more difficult than that in practice test. Thank you very much and best regards
  13. Strictly speaking, you can not use "high altitudes", and "higher" is required, making perfect grammar. BTW, many people write sentences of comparision without a pair of comparative words. These usages are sometimes controversial but considered acceptable informally. Hi Vvaann, What grammer point do you use when you say that "high attitudes" isn't possible? I think it's ok. Could you write some words just to calm down my curiousity? Thank you in advance. Best regards, Hippo Hi, it is obviously that "much windier" is the best answer here. But for the idea of using "high attitudes", I agree with Hippo, it is OK either. The reason that we chose "windier" is that can reflect more precisely the cause-result relation here than others. Pls correct my mistakes, if any [heartbeat] Thanks a lot and best regards
  14. Many of species of milkweed are among the most dangerous of poisonous plants, while others have little, if any, toxicity. Hello every one, I have another oppinion about this sentence. "Many of" is OK in this case, it means "a lot of species of milkweed (not ALL)". The mistake here is C. "the most dangerous of" should be changed to "the most dangerously poisonous plants". because "dangerous" is an adj, there is no reason for "of" after it. Its function is to modify "poisonous" "Little" here is OK, it modifies "toxicity" although these two words have been seperated by "If any" (which refer to whether or not a specy possesses toxicity) What do you think about that?

    3 Qs

hi everyone, for Q2, i don't think this is a tag question. IMO the sentence means: I often have difficulty solving those sort of solid geometry problem, don't you (have such difficulty)? For the correction, I agree that those sort must be changed to that sort / those sorts I also think " have difficulty solving something " is OK Best rgds
