  1. 1. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3047&highlight=meeting+minutes 2. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4722&highlight=CREDITS+MOVIE 3. a levee is a embankment used to keep a river under control a cordon is line of troop or officers enclosing an crowd to keep it under control. 4. stock means goods in available opposite of unique 5. to occult means to shut off from view ( become hidden and difficult to see) opposite of bare. 6. Fracas means a noisy quarrel (not peaceable discussion). 7. ASPERSIONS is a abusive attack one's character rewards is a way used to motivate one behavior
  2. I see your view but I wonder what are the positives of wolverine. What does "it" in the last clause stand for. "It" can not be the positives because It is not refered in the previous clause. If "it" functioning the subject in your answer refer to Wolverine, it seem that the sentence is not right in grammar because there are three clause in the sentence but there only one conjuntion. Hope to see more your ideas
  3. I think there is no answer choice right that makes sense the above sentence. For an explaination, we must identify the function of "FOR" Is "FOR" in the above sentence a preposition or a conjunction. It's clear that "For" is a conjunction in this case. Therefore, we need a verb in the gap. So the sentence should be rewritten as the following. Despite its small size and slow gait, the wolverine is an effective predator, for what it lacks in speed and size make it up in strength and endurance. Is there any ideas else ?
  4. Hi mrscreixell. please send it to my email: nguyendoansau@yahoo.com. Thanks in advances
  5. Dear Malena! The "its" refers to the White House... the wives have redecorated the White House's (=its) rooms. The meaning is, they arrived at the house, and wanted to make sure everyone notices that the Clintons or Kennedys have "taken over" the house. So they decorate the house's rooms. I'm sure they did decorate their private rooms, too. But the important thing here is that they wanted to show the public that they were at home now there and staying for the next 4 or 8 years. So they probably put up some family portraits or art that they own in public halls and stairways, or put a new carpet in the Oval Office :p whatever presidents' wives do if you let them ;) As I said, "their" is grammatically and also in its meaning a possible word to replace "its" with. But "its" should be used when talking about all of the house's rooms, and not just the wives' private ones. I hope this answers the question, if not please let me know! :) Okay, You're absolutely right, tigerwoman
  6. well-done Your answer is very clear. [goodjob]
  7. Congratulation!. It sounds very good. Your score is what I really wanna get. So hope to see you getting an admission letter to a leading US University soon. Why not you take the GRE exam. It's worth to challenge. And then you can apply for scholarships such as VEF fellowship. I think you can get it with flying colors. Once again I wish you all the best in 2004.
  8. So let me try 1. B I think it's easy for you to choose B the best answer. Right There is an inversion in this sentence because of the position of "never" . So be careful 2. Obviously D. Why?. We need a noun roling the subject of the sentence. But there is a serious error in the sentence because of using the determiner. "That" should be changed into "those".
  9. here's my try 1. E 2. D 3. I'm not sure but I chose B
  10. This is the first time I try this new area so please help me to correct it. 1. C 2. I think there is no better answer than A [goodjob]
  11. The first glance on your posted questions also made me rethink about the banana rule. After thinking for a while, I finally suggest my ideas. 1. Obviously, the using of "to be" after 'become" is very redundant so A is not the right answer. And Let's discuss the using "part". As we see "part" is used as a countable noun and an uncountable. for example I usually spend part of the time in the library as an uncounntable noun with a meaning of some but not all of a thing that cannot be divided. So "part of the curriculum" can be acceptable. 2. I think the using of "sound" in the second sentence is Ok. "Sound" means generally "acoustic sound" that we can feel, hear and so on and it's uncountable. Hope to receive any ideas else.
  12. 40. I agree with you. "Extinct" should be change into "extinction". "Many more" sound weird but I did not find any wrong with it. But I think there is no use of article "a" before "fear" which is an astract noun in this above sentence. Hope I recieve any ideas soon.
  13. Hi Wood. I believe someday you let me know your post in "just finished ...". Do it in your way and get your best result.
  14. Hi Wood ! Your idea about the "most" and "more" in question 6 sounds very well. I, indeed, agree with you in that. Thank. [goodjob]
