  3. Okay cool nobody wants to give opinion. I go with Stoklosa my final decision..
  4. Could anyone help me decide which book is best for NAPLEX Math. I would like only one reference that would help me understand clearly the solutions on how to arrive answers. There are quite a few selections out there but I would like to at least choose one that is really worth keeping. Guys share your opinions based on what you have used for your preparation. Thanks.
  5. Hello everyone! I need urgent help here. The Boards have approved my internship application and sent me a sample of internship duties and responsibilities, however the setting of the internship I received is in hospital setting only. I would like to know if anyone of you have experienced doing internship in an independent retail pharmacy, perhaps I could get some information regarding what I supposed to write down as my tasks. The employer wants me to write the letter and does not have time to make it. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated.... Good luck to everyone who still in the process of searching for internship position.
  6. Thank you for giving me an idea. Again, good luck with your next endeavor. I am sure it would be a piece of cake for you.All the best. ski:)
  7. Congratulations pharmacist2009! You really deserved the excellent score that you received mainly because of your hard work. I have a couple of questions for you. First, when you just starting to review for the Naplex test, what study materials did you refer? My point here is that, there are tons of study materials for Naplex preparation, however I believe that I need to brush up first my background knowledge if any :) and try to understand the concept before I can move on to practice questions and other information that needs critical understanding. From your personal experience, do you think it is better to review first the CPR by Shargel knowing that we used that book during our Fpgee preparation and it would be a lot easier to remember information? Could you please share how you approached each preparation material. Did you just study all of the books that you mentioned in your post randomly or in order? I just want to know how I am going to start my review. My next question is about the edition of your calculation book by Ansel and Stoklosa, I remember that I used it back in college, but I am afraid it is not updated anymore. That would be all. Enjoy your success and I wish you all the best for your law exam.
  8. Hello Digitalis, Congratulations! you deserve your success.. You study a lot, I can feel it. I have a question, what edition of Apha you did use during the preparation? How long did it take you to study the entire book (Apha) not including the revision? thanks a lot.
  9. Hello Aman, I am glad to hear from you. Can you do me a favor? Could you send again your skype id using Private message. I believe we are not allowed to post personal information here for privacy purpose. I am looking forward to improving my english skills from you. Thank you.
  10. Is there anyone interested in brainstorming ideas to get 26 in speaking? If so, just send me a private message together with your time zone and skype id. We will discuss the most effective way on how to attack every question. Basically, we will practice at least two hours everyday. Our conversation does not have to be about the toefl most of the time, we can discuss any topics as long as we can express ourselves in comprehensable way. Most importantly, constructive comments are very welcomed since the goal here is to get 26. I live in Central US time zone.
  11. Josh, thank you so much for the effort that you spent on rating my essay. Now, I know the pattern, it just needs a lot of practice. If I could only follow your suggestions, I will definitely pass my exam. Once again, thank you and I do appreciate your help.
  12. Hello, I also need somebody to check my essay. I want to help you, but I do not have enough knowledge in english. Just starting to understand some grammars. Hope somebody could help us rate our essays.
  13. Is there any good samaritan who could help rate and check my essay? I would be happy to find one. Some universities require students to take classes in many subjects. Other universities require students to specialize in one subject. Which is better. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Although most of the students choose universities that require one subject, in my opinion, the best approach is to take many subjects as possible. Studying several subjects could help students learn more knowledge, discover their strengths and weaknesses and help them stay competitive. Students who take several subjects learn more knowledge. A student may not learn other interesting subjects by merely focusing on one subject. A student who takes a calculus subject, would only learn problem solving. On the other hand, a student who takes calculus and english subject at the same time could receive two benefits. He could learn how to solve a problem and perhaps learn the rule of grammars as well. Thus, student who takes several subject has a great opportunity to learn more things. Students who study several subjects could able to discover their hidden abilities. Similarly, they could also discover their weaknesses. A student who tries learning new skills, attending a piano lesson for instance, could help him appreciate music. Eventually, he would loves music and starts to compose a song. He would then discover his unseen abilities. In addition, limited ability could be discovered by taking more than one subjects. Students have to learn the complexities of two subjects. Math and history subject for example, are quite different. Students have to understand both computations and past events. Some students may find one of these subjects hard. By acknowledging their limited knowledge, they could find ways to improve their performance. Students who study several subjects maintain being competitive. They can compete with other students, who have the same level of abilities. This would help students become more motivated. Hence, they are more likely to achieve success than students who prefer to concentrate in only one subject. As I have stated, taking multiple subjects offer a great advantages. Students would learn a lot of valuable information, know their abilities and keep them motivated. Likewise, students who take limited subject are less likely achieve these benefits.
  14. This particular thread is very important especially for test takers who find reading section quite challenging. So, let us continue to help one onother by posting strategies. Here are some lists of additional techniques: 1. Extreme use of words on the sentence such as all, must, none, always, etc. are most of the time wrong answers. However, we do still need to read the passage carefully to avoid mistakes and misunderstandings. 2. If possible work on the difficult question once done answering doable questions--vocabularies; referents/pronouns/nouns (it, them, those, that, etc.), ( I can't think other easy questions) 3. Read every question carefully. Decoding and repharasing questions are helpful as well. 4. On simplifying complex sentences; choices that only repeat or copy the parts of highlighted sentence are most of the time not the right answer. 5. Choosing choices/information that are not mentioned on the passage are generally not the right answer. 6. On summarizing the passage, pay atttention on the given topic and stick into it. Include major details that support the given topic and ignore minor details that not support the topic statement (mostly examples are not included.) 7. Paying attention on the final/last paragraph of the passage is important, because it serves as a conclusion. 8.Knowing the purpose of the passage and its structure helps test taker to follow on the flow of the details/information. We can able to pass the toelf if we help one onother... Hope somebody can post strategies on listening, speaking and writing too...
  15. Hello everybody, I just finished my toefl today (Feb 08), I noticed that questions on reading section had changed. I encountered three or four questions asking about the relationship of two passages. Also, there was a question goes like this: The passage answer all the question,EXCEPT ....and the choices are how, why, what, which was referring to the contents of the passage. One more, I answered like three consecutives questions which was referring to only one passage. This seems stranged. Does anybody noticed this changes?

Hello, Yes, I read Shargel from cover to cover. I didn't leave any single topic. Focus first in Shargel before proceeding to other references. Check your Blueprint. Use it as your guide. I used pharmainfo, 1000 Q&A by Shroff and CPR book questions and answers at the end of each chapter as a practice. You'll be fine. You got enough time to prepare. Thank you for wishing me the best of luck for Naplex and MPJE, but I need to clear first my TOEFL. So, you better help me too. Just kidding! You are always welcome, Ski

Wishtopass, I will try my best to answer all your questions. I want you to know that informations that I will write in here are purely based on my own experience and opinions. It will not serve as an assurance in passing fpgee. Well, let me start. Shargel and Shroff for me, are still good enough. Shargel is very comprehensive. It tackles tremendous informations, while topics from Shroff are written in concise format. I read Pharmacology section and herbal products from Morris Cody. I used Pharmacology book by Lippincott, 2nd edition. I only read first five chapters, because I don't have enough time. I read some topics from Remington, the Science and Practice of Pharmacy latest edition. The hard cover comes in green color. To brush up my knowledge, I read my books that I used back in college days. I'm afraid I can't remember the exact titles. I remember that I'd used it when I was in first year. Some titles are Anatomy, Physiology, Basic Microbiology, etc. Again, I used Blueprint as my guide, since the subjects that I mentioned are included in the blueprint. Pharmainfo is absolutely free-of-charge. You can use it anytime you wish. About Morris Cody, I don't have any idea regarding this review materials, because as I mentioned I only chose selected topics besides I don't have enough time to cover all those stuffs. Well, I can't see any problem if you gonna read your notes back in college. I understand that informations back in college are considered obsolete, but remember that basic informations doesn't have to be updated from time to time. Time availability is the answer on your question. The more time you have the more knowledge you got, but quality supersedes quantity. As long as you have a time plan, you'll be alright. Follow your plan faithfully. Again, it depends in your knowledge. If you have an idea regarding the topic or let say you find the topic quite easy, you don't need to pay more attention into it. You need to inform Nabp if in case you change your mind, so to avoid penalty fee. Check details and more informations at NABP National Association of Boards of Pharmacy. under most common ask question if I'm not mistaken. I think it is also written in the application form/booklet that they sent you. For those testtakers who wanna know the exact dates of the exam. The rule is, Nabp set a standard date for fpgee exam. Fpgee is given twice a year, June and December. The day is always last Saturday of June and first Saturday of December. So, basically the next exam will be on June 28, 2008 which is last Saturday of the month. Let me clarify that this is not the official date. We better check it out first, if in case they change it. That's all. Good luck and GOD bless!

Hi Dreamfaith, Let me help you on figuring out for the preparation of FPGEE. First, always think that you will definitely pass it. Be positive. In my case, before I passed fpgee last June, I'd worked full time. Obviously, I didn't get an opportunity to study well. So, I decided to work as part time by then, I made a study plan, which was reading Shargel. At first, I encountered lots of troubles on understanding what I am trying to learn, for I graduated long time ago. And I can't remembered or recalled the lessons that I've learned back in college. So, it was hard for me. What happened was, I studied all over again, as if I am a new pharmacy student. But the even worst thing is as of now, I already forgot what I've learned few months ago. Well, I guess it just normal process how brain works. Eventhough, I'd managed to finish Shargel. While I am reading, I take important informations. It served as a notes and I also used it for the revision of my review. That way, I would not read the entire book again. As my references I had used Shargel, complete sets of Manan Shroff books and CD's. Unfortunately, I failed. So, I studied again. I read Shargel, Manan shroff books but at that time I haven't gotten a chance to finish it. I also used Blueprint as my reference. But then again, I failed. I decided to take again and I considered other strategies. That time, I combined information from Remington, Shargel, new edition of Management book by Shroff, some topics from Morris Cody and selected chapters from Lippincott. I even used some book references to brush up my knowledge in basic subject like immunity, cells, genetics, anatomy and the like. I also used pharmainfo over the internet to test my knowledge and know my weakness on certain area or subject. I'd surfed a lot of informations from the internet whenever I feel like I don't have enough knowledge on specific subject. And I made sure that I tackled every single detail that was written on the Blueprint. As far as I remember I studied more or less three months. But I tried to be consistent by studying everyday. Time management is very important. Some students can successfully pass by studying as short as four or five hours a day. Others prefer to study a minimum of eight hours or more a day. Probably test takers who can pass by merely studying short period of hour are more likely to devote longer months of studying than those who prefer to study eight hours a day. It is only based in my opinion. Anyway, quality is more important than quantity. In my opinion, stock knowledge that I had learned back in school plays an important role especially on the basic part. Afterall, knowledge we had learned from studying is absolutely important matter whether its a stock or a fresh one or the most difficult or even simplest ones, for nobody can't predict possible questions that they might ask. As a tip on answering questions. Use POE or process of elimination. Identify the keywords in each question and match it from the given choices. Understand and read carefully every question before answering. And last but not least believe in miracles! PRAY, PRAY and PRAY.. I know you can make it. Good luck![clap]
  20. Hello once again! Sad to say that I have not found the files on Yahoo Groups. I am afraid I can not help you to retrieve it. Probably it has been erased. I hope someone from this forum could help you to find it. Anyway, you can practice answering question from this site: FPGEE practice questions and answers | Pharmainfo.net You will learn a lot of things from this site, like Toxicology, Pharmacology and some general informations. Ski
  21. Hi Syrena! The 5 set of CD's by Manan Shroff are quite similar to 1000 Q&A textbook. They have the same format of questioning. However, CD's offer a lot of informations. I have encountered several questions from CD's, which are not included in the textbook. Though, Q&A textbook is worth knowing compare to CD's, but if you have enough time, go ahead and answer the questions from CD's as a practice. You can actually download the complete set of CD's in Yahoo Groups. Just check it out there. All the best, Ski

According to this site mitrin is common misspelling of motrin(ibuprofen). Check this out: Prescription Drug Motrin - Order, Buy, Prices and Information

    Codiene

You are welcome Brlkk! Well, let me explain about APAP. As I mentioned on my previous post, APAP is the same thing as Acetaminophen, commonly known as Paracetamol in some other countries. Here in United States it is called Acetaminophen. And the most popular brand name is Tylenol. It is actually a shortened term meaning N-Acetyl-Para-AminoPhenol, a potent main ingredient proven to alleviate pain and reduces or to some extent can prevent fever. Hope it helps! :)

    Codiene

Hi! Codeine is classified as Schedule II controlled substances. It requires DEA 222 order form for purchase; no refills ever; partial filling must be done in 72 hours. In addition product that contains less than 90 mg of codeine per dosage unit with any other non-controlled substances such as APAP/acetaminophen should be classified as a Schedule III. Hope this helps! This information is based on Reference Guide for Pharmacy Management and Pharmacoeconomics Q&A first edition 2007-2008 written by Manan H. Shroff. Good luck on your exam.:)
  25. Hi Losrain! My advice to you is ask or seek somebody who already took FPGEE from your country. It would be nice if you find someone who graduated on the same school/university at very the same year and curriculum. Another solution is you can call the office registrar who in-charge for the preparation of your transcript, and you better explain them the proper way on how to translate every subject --I guess it must be on a separate sheet of paper, and all of the subjects written in non-English form must be translated in English even the minor subjects. Well, I think if they used to make such requirement for FPGEE application they must be expert on doing such thing. But, it is always necessary to give them the proper method, so to avoid any mistake. As far as I understand, NABP have their own standardized pattern or something that based upon the subjects and its corresponding units as well. Probably, one needs to complete all the necessary major subjects with exact course units or credits. Hope it helps! Good luck! Ski:)
