  1. Right, I have a confirmation from the GMAT instructor on this
  2. Nice idea, but I don' understand how can you have reasoning like this revenues from car sales were down 11 % and from truck sales up 7%
  3. You don't have to calculate those ugly numbers x+y=280 (x+y)^2=280^2 (x+y)^2=x^2+2xy+y^2=2*xy+x^2+y^2=2*xy+200^2 xy=(280^2-200^2)/2 xy=(280+200)*(280-200)/2 xy=480*80/2=240*80 which is easier to calculate
  4. This was my approach: As it's said, r is obviously 8 r*4=32, carry-over from the units to the tenths is 3 Sinds we don't have carry-over from the hundredths to the thousands, p have to be less than 3 (3*4=12 results in carry-over) If p = 1 then 4*q+3 (3 is carry-over from the units) = ...1 (number with unit 1) q can be 2 or 7 (2*4+3=11, 2*7+3=31) If q = 2 then we have 2128 * 4 = 8512 ...............................2pqr * 4 = r5q2 Maybe we shouldn't check q=2, because 4 is not in the given answers q ≠ 2 If q = 7 then 2178*4=8712 ..................2pqr *4=rqp2
  5. Indeed intersection is not a tangent, you can not have E http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w265/jvujuc_gmat/Clipboard02.jpg
