That's a tough one. If you really have no other person to choose, then you should just pick one from those religious people no matter how you disapprove them. Concentrate on his/her contributions to the country (even if they are minimal) and then you can mention that he serves as an inspiration for the community, or you can mention of his leadership. I got 25 in the writing section. Although, I am more careful with grammar, you can describe ideas better. So I think you won't have a problem passing that 24 mark.

I noticed that your essay's theme became more like a comparison between working poor vs non-working rich, rather than agree or disagree with the question. But overall, I think your essay is well formed. It has good transitions and pretty clear illustration of ideas. Areas of improvement would be grammar and using stronger words.

Toefl Ibt has a Writing section part. It is the TWE and influences your overall score. About retaking, I believe you have to repeat the entire section; you can't just pick one.

Although i used the formula in the above post, it was just for neater display of solution. Actually, i don't memorize the formula. You don't even need to memorize it, but instead understand how the formula came about and understand how to deal with the same type of problem using your knowledge of basic combinatorics. In the link I posted b4, you will understand what I am saying if you read it. Btw, manually counting the no. of combinations is not always feasible because the numbers involved can be larger that you won't have the time to do so. In fact, that is the case in the actual GRE problem i encountered where the problem is a combination with repetition in disguise. I am not sure if these problems are common in the actual test, but I am lucky to have studied and understood it.

You have to use "combination with repetition" for this type of problem. (3+3-1)C(3-1) = 5C2 = 10 (Is this correct? :D) This page will help introduce you to the concept. GRE_Kickboxer, that esnips site is awesome!! i wish i knew it long ago. The software you have is different from what i used. The online practice test i took was from princetonreview.com, which you can only log on if you bought Princeton's Cracking the GRE 2007 (not sure if 2006 applies). And yeah, that sample question is so easy, even easier than powerprep. i just tried answering the 1st sample test from the version you are using and it felt like answering a test from the ARCO book. Questions are very simple and can be finished with LOTS of time left.

What version are you using? Because in Princeton Review 2007, there are no CD CAT, but 4 online practice tests that are at par with Kaplan's test.

Yes test takers are becoming a lot more competitive, perhaps because of increased quality of test prep services and a lot more people taking advantage of testmagic forum :)

In my opinion, it is best to expect that the GRE quant section will be tougher than ever. Now, powerprep is way below the standards of the actual test. It is necessary to expose oneself to questions taken from different sources such as Barron's, NOVA, Princeton, Kaplan, etc. That way, one will have better preparation and greater confidence. I believe people find quant questions to be tougher because ETS is probably trying to represent questions in a less easy to decipher manner. Not familiar with it, test takers may be caught by surprise and start to panic. Relating to my experience, I remember having already prepared for more than 2 months using NOVA, testmagic, Barron's, Princeton, and Kaplan. During that time, I am quite confident already. But when i tried ARCO cd, i got a comparatively lower score than previous due to the different nature of the problems. In short, it is best to practice with a good diversity of question types and from different resources. Hope this helps.
