  1. Hi bholebaba, Thanks for your explanation. It is really useful. Now, I got the idea for this exercise :) Cheers.
  2. Hi B-Guru, Thanks for your explanation. It is clear for me now :) Cheers.
  3. Hi guys, Could somebody explain a little bit why C is the correct answer? I thought that my reasoning was OK  Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi guys, I go with B as the correct answer and agree with gmat731. We need another reason that "middle-income families are especially hard-hit", besides families "can no longer qualify to buy homes". I think that furthermore is the good conector here. Also, I get confused about alternative C because of the preposition "for" at the begining. Please let me know if I am right or wrong :hmm: Cheers.
  5. Hi beehive, Congratulations on your Score :grad: Thanks for sharing your experience... Good Luck in your future studies  Cheers.
  6. Hi ve_boss, Congratulations on your Score :grad: It is a very good one... I think that you will do great in your MBA Application Process... Good Luck  Cheers.
  7. Hi asad100101, I think that you should call them again, considering that you have been waiting 5 business days for their communication. Also, it is important that your reschedule will be confirmed at least one week before August 2nd. Good Luck :) Cheers.
  8. Hi trying_to_study, For Q1, C is correct because "they" is referring to sharks and "because they" is a reason that explains an ability of sharks. If you omitted the additional information between commas, you would understand clearly the sentence. That is "Because they have nostrils, sharks are capable of smelling even a few molecules of blood in water. For Q2, D is correct because of the whole sense of the sentence. I eliminated C because the -Ing Form of "costing" close to "now". Now is an adverb of time that is related to Present Tense (example: costs) or Present Continuous (example: is costing). I hope this helps you. Cheers.
  9. Hi trying_to_study, In my opinion, I go with E as the correct answer. Here is my reasoning: (A) that they will, or could, => "That" makes the sentence wordy. (B) that they would, or could, => "That" makes the sentence wordy. © they will be or could => "Be" would be repeated in the sentence, like "but they will be, or could, be made (...)". Also, "will" has to be used with actions that have a high probability to occur. Since, the original sentence has "could", it must use "would" instead. (D) think that they will be or could => "They" is ambiguous here because it could refer to international journalists or to power stations. (E) think the power stations would or could => OK. Let me know if I am right or wrong. Cheers.
  10. Hi guys, I go with E as the correct answer. Same explanation as btit posted before. Hi hello2gautam, Please, could you post the OA? Thanks in advance. Cheers.
  11. Hi guys, I still have a doubt on this SC. You identify that "has grown" is correct because the subject is "booming market", right? I understand that "public's interest" is part of the introduction of the sentence but it is not the main subject. Let me know if I am wrong. Thanks in advance for your explanation. Cheers.
  12. Hi Goldust, In the actual TOEFL you will have a clock such as Barron's or Longam Software. You will see your Preparation Time, listen a beep and then you will see your Speaking Time while you are talking to the microphone. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have another question. Cheers.
  13. Hi guys, In case you need some tips for the Speaking Part of the TOEFL iBT, take a look on these Links on YouTube: I found them when I started my preparation. I did not have an English course with the guys who appeared on the video (I live in South America), but I found them useful... Also, you can practice your Listening by watching the videos ;) I hope this helps you  Cheers.
  14. Hi sitcus, I do not rescore before but I think that it is not possible in the Reading since it is not a subjective evaluation. ETS Software offers you a reading passage and it has programmed with the correct answers for each question. When you finish the Test, I think that the computer automatically can calculate your Reading Score. However, we have to wait for the Speaking and the Writing Score (which are subjective), in order to have the Overall TOEFL iBT Score. I hope this helps to clarify your doubt. Cheers.
  15. Hi nazar, I also go with E as the correct answer. I think that the problem in D is that it changes the meaning of the original sentence because there is no a comparison. D states "In few United States cities today, a river is the focal point of urban life, but the river in San Antonio". In this case, but is not followed by a contradiction because the river in San Antonio is a focal point. I hope this helps you :) Cheers.
  16. Hi pega, I took the Test last Friday and now I am waiting for my results. However, I understand you because sometimes I felt nervious because of the time  But the clue in this kind of Tests is to stay calm... Otherwise, we are not going to be able to concentrate and reflect our English knowledge... And that is the goal of TOEFL iBT... To show that you have an advanced level of English  I think that it is a good practice to relax at least one day before the Test. In my case, I went to the movies to watch a comedy and then I ate a pizza with red wine... For me, red wine is useful because it helps me to relax and to sleep deeply at night... Also, I really like red wine :p Then, early in the morning I drunk some orange juice and went to the Test Center. In the break, I ate some chocolate because it helps your brain to work better. Finally, I breath deeply when I felt nervous and try to focuss all my atention on each question... I hope these tips would help you. Be confident... TOEFL iBT is only a Test and you can do it  Good Luck!!! Cheers.
  17. Hi guys, I also go with A as the correct answer. The explanation that nazar gives us is pretty clear. Hi bholebaba, Please, could you post the OA for this question? Thanks in advance. Cheers
  18. Hi asad100101, For the Speaking Section I tried to practice everyday, at least 2 Independent Questions. In each book I mentioned before, you will find many Questions to practice your Speaking. Moreover, between pages 267-281 of The Official Guide for TOEFL iBT you will find all the Independent Writing Topics that you can use for Speaking practice too. So, I used my Cell Phone to record my voice in 45 seconds and then I sent the MP3 Files to my English Teacher in order to review together my grammar mistakes. I took notes for each mistake in a notebook and at weekends, I review all my mistakes due to learn and try to avoid them later. Finally, I used a lot Dictionary.com in order to review the pronunciation of words that I am not sure. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other question. Cheers.
  19. Hi niks.neha, I took the TOEFL iBT last July 11 and now I am waiting for my results. In my preparation, I used at first Longman (Book and CD) in order to understand how the TOEFL iBT works section by section and practice with the Mini-Tests. I also used Delta (Book and CD) for the same purpose. Then, when I started with my Practice Tests I took the 2 Complete Tests of Longman CD and the 4 Complete Tests of Kaplan CD. The last one is harder than any other Test but I think it was useful. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any other question. Cheers.
  20. Hi asad100101, This is good news! I am glad for that :) Cheers.
  21. Hi niks.neha, These questions seems related to TOEFL PBT because there are focussed on Grammar. Anyway, here are my answers: 1. D (Eating cookies = singular noun) 2. D (Your job is = purpose) 3. C (Faulty comparison = compare US population to CAN population) 4. B (Make somebody something = idiom) 5. B (Dedicated "her life") 6. A (Complete idea in the sentence) 7. A (Complete sense in the sentence) 8. C (What you said = "Something that you said" is) 9. C (Somedoby came into the room) 10. A (Give somebody something = idiom) I hope this helps you. Cheers.
  22. Hi maxmax, I am not sure about filling the Printed Format but I suggest you to contact ETS by phone. I think that it is better to clarify your doubt directly with them. You can enter to ETS Website in order to find the contact information. I hope this helps you. Cheers.
  23. Hi hiPEBC, Congratulations on your Awesome Score  It is the higher that I have ever seen posted!!! Good Luck in your studies :) Cheers.
