  1. For Prob-1: how about the following circular arrangements: (In all four arrangements C has the same two neighbours - B & D) 1) ABCDE 2) EBCDA 3) EDCBA (Anti clockwise of 1) 4) ADCBE (Anti clockwise of 2) Shouldn't we be dividing (5-1)! by 4? For Prob-2: Why is the arrangement of women not considered circular?
  2. IMO A. What is the OA? (A) herself an escaped slave, returned again and again to Maryland to guide (B) being an escaped slave herself, returned again and again to Maryland so as to guide -- "so as"-redundant © an escaped slave herself, returned again and again to Maryland for guiding -- will consider the advise "avoid statements with -ing form in it" (D) herself as an escaped slave, returned again and again to Maryland so as to be the guide of --"so as"-redundant (E) who had been herself as an escaped slave, returned again and again to Maryland for the guiding of --"for the guiding of" is wordy.
  3. Trigonometry will make ur life easier. however an easier way out is to rem tht 30-60-90 triangle has a-√3a-2a as the length of the respective opposite sides
  4. IMO answer is E. based on stmt 2. : if c is odd then it implies b is even and based on 1. : b is even and a multiple of 3. lets begin with b=6, the smallest number that satisfies this condition hence a,b,c are 5,6,7 their product cannot be a multiple of 24. Hence E is the answer.
  5. Or use the layout/style used by Cartera in the post http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-data-sufficiency/106851-median.html it has the OA but its hidden :) thanks
  6. yup the answer seems to be E. What is the OA?
  7. Answer is A 1) gives unique solution 2) gives more than one solution. 3*3=9*1 ; 2*2=4.1 ; 2*3=6*1
  8. d this equates to 1=-1. d remains to be do and its the range of values that d can hold is negative. this info should help us make informed decision of changing the inequality sign when we cross multiply d.
  9. please post the OA. could you please share the source of the question and your reasoning for E. after a second review, even i think E is the stmt tht can be inferred from the abv passage
  10. what is the OA and d source of the question please.
  11. IMO: D reasoning: given: a society that has no laws has no crimes, because no laws can be broken" -> "crime= a law was broken" -(I) now if there is some crime then by (I) some law/s was/were broken hence D is true
  12. IMO B (D uses very strong word "danger"... while the discussion is stimulating growth.) btw wht is the OA?
  13. IMO: C is the ans reasoning: based on C : Tocqueville knew the reason for his family's poverty was his father's ill health n not Napoleon. thus it negates "Biographers claim that Tocqueville disliked centralized government because he blamed Napoleons rule for the poverty of his childhood in Normandy"
