  1. Congrats to those who got it! Do you think Susan has already finished notifying admitted students?
  2. I got into Berkeley and also heard from Kellogg (for interview) Anyone heard from Wharton finance?
  3. Has anyone heard from the program? Interviews? Thanks!
  4. sorry, it's 11:56 pacific time. i posted it 5 mins after you.
  5. So, Minnesota will also release their decisions next week? I looked at the posts on grad cafe, and it seemed like they did that in March (for last year) Of course, I want to find out next week! Can anyone confirm?
  6. Congrats! Berkeley is such an awesome school Btw, 2 Harvards? Am I missing something here?
  7. has anyone had interviews with wharton (finance program)? thanks
  8. Ancalagon, you're suggesting that if one have not been contacted for interviews, s/he is practically out? I kinda know that this holds true with bio-related programs, but I have no idea about b-schools.
  9. This might be a bit off the topic. I wondering if you guys have received any "complete application" email from Minnesota? I have not heard anything from them and start to get worried since it seems like they already started reviewing the applications.
  10. I am from one of the top 5 schools in US, and I think there are about 7 of us (that I know of) applying for spots in PhD programs. If the ad-com uses the quota for undergrad institution, well then . . .
  11. out of curiosity say, if a pretty famous prof in top5-6 department said that X is one of the best students in econ department (top 1-2%) and I believe that X will place in the top quarter of the best Phd programs. that's all the prof said in a very terse letter (about 8-10 lines). Is it considered a lukewarm letter?
  12. Same deal for Stanford *sigh* I think you need to take up a math major and build a connection with professors there. I think you're competitive at any program.
  13. To zsla, where is Harvard? My 2 cents: Tier 1 1. MIT 2. Chicago 3. Harvard 4. Princeton 5. Stanford 6. Berkeley 7. NYU 8. Yale 9. Northwestern 10. Michigan Tier 2 1. Penn 2. Columbia 3. Minnesota 4. UCLA 5. UCSD
  14. I think that you have GOOD chances at all of the schools you listed (well may be reasonable chances at MIT and Princeton) This is kinda off topic, but why do you think MIT (or Pton) would reject this profile? (It seems very strong to me)
  15. My guess is that it might hurt you in very competitive programs. These programs already receive more applications from qualified applicants with the same profile as yours than they can accept. anyway, you should be ok if you have good letters from your recommenders.
  16. hi guys, I am curious if adcoms have some kinds of quotas in the decision process, e.g., the number of students from the same undergrad/master school or the number or from certain countries. Also, do adcoms take into account the field of interest in case some fields are more competitive than others. Thanks.
  17. I'm applying this fall as well. i might be wrong, but from what I remember, many job market candidates from UCLA do international finance. So, you might want to take a look at their website.
