  1. Will a hit in a minor journal help of hurt me during Stanford's admission process?
  2. It is that time again. I just saw an intriguing article on job market rumors on who would have won the Clark Medal had it been awarded annually before this year: http://www.economicprincipals.com/ Too bad John A. List is too old now, but at least he won second place last time and the "medal" in 2008!
  3. I think the key is approaching a well-published faculty member with a good idea. They will help you bring it home from there.
  4. I found them in our library under law schools.
  5. My advisor told me that one should not contact any faculty today when I asked him this question. So blank or none seems right.
  6. I just read the freakonomics post on jlist, Seven Smooches - Freakonomics Blog - NYTimes.com Seems to imply he does not have much time for anything other than work. Either he spends more time with us than he does with his family or he works long hours into the night. I wonder too about the dynamic between Levitt and List after reading this post.
  7. So where did you end up Youngeconomist? Do you have to claw?
  8. An undergrad here just heard from a school ranked 50-100 so all hope is not lost.
  9. Yes, he has come a long way no doubt. In that light I find this next story ironic. I just spoke with a graduate student who told me that John just talked to him and stressed that his road is not recommended and told the person to go to the best school or match possible because it will be difficult to claw his way up the ladder later. Even the person who does it gives us little hope of doing it if we cannot start from a top place! :(
  10. Your welcome. I raised this question to my adviser and he thought that more faculty roam these boards than what we think--many many many more. Though he did agree with you that they knew of the article before I posted it here.
