  1. Hi, did you graduate after 2003? How long was your pharmacy curriculum and from what country did you graduate from?
  2. It actually costs at least AUD$1.8 million to own a pharmacy in Australia *sigh*How hard is it to go to the industry(drug companies) sector in the US these days? I mean excluding R & D b/c I know this field is being outsourced to countries like China & India.
  3. Dear jvvora, It's very interesting to hear that you have been accepted to sit for FPGEE AFTER 2003 as an Indian graduate. How long were each of your diploma and your pharm degree? And as far as I know, I thought the NABP doesn't count diploma toward the 5 years???
  4. But isn't it almost impossible to get the Green Card with just a Master's degree and work experience at your home country(or a different country where you have a permanent residence) ?? And US is still in recession.
  5. Hi, Since you are already eligible to take the FPGEE, I don't think you need to worry about minimum 5 year curriculum requirement(?). What did the ECE say about your pharmacy education credentials? Did you take any pre-university before your pharmacy degree?
  6. vvfong, How much overlap is there between the subjects that you took in pre-uni and those you took in the first year of pharmacy degree? This is because I think the ECE won't count the pre-uni if there's too much overlap in the subjects.
  7. http://www.www.urch.com/forums/fpgee/108489-accepted-write-fpgee-4-year-bpharm-after-2003-1-pre-u.html Hi Dinu77, Read the posts for the above link. This applicant was accepted to sit for the FPGEE with his prepharmacy + 4 yr degree after 2003. Why didn't the NABP accept you even with your prepharmacy + 4 yr degree?
  8. Hi, what do you mean by that the pharmacy practice is better in Canada?(what makes it better?) Can you explain more about it? As far as I know, the pay rate is better in US.
  9. Hi! I feel very glad and relieved to see your case!! :) If you read through my previous posts and threads, I pretty much asked the same question over and over regarding my case due to uncertainty. This is the situation that I am facing: The thing is, it is known that Australia, the country itself has a 4 year pharmacy degree (the general norm). So I wasn't really sure whether I was eligible for FPGEE or not, even though I had to(due to personal circumstances) take at least 1 year university in the US before transferring to my current Aussie pharm school. In other words, I wasn't sure if the COUNTRY ITSELF as a whole also had to have a 5 year degree. I would like to ask some Qs about your situation: 1. Does Malaysia itself offer 4 year pharm degrees to all students? And is admission to pharm school straight after high school? 2. What subjects did you take during the 1 year pre-university? 3. Did your pharmacy school require you to take that pre-uni before admission to pharm school?
  10. I have some licensing requirements for Alabama, Michigan, and Arkansas. Alabama: says "AL does not recognize FPGEC" - does this mean any foreign pharmacy grads can take NAPLEX & MPJE straight away? Michigan: "Must have FPGEC certification. Foreign program must have been at least a 4-year program." I thought 5 year is required for every single state in the US? Arkansas: "Considers FPGEC certification" Does this mean we don't need to take FPGEE + TOEFL?
  11. Hi, Is only a knowledge of English required to obtain a postgraduate degree in Sweden? And what 1 year programs are you talking about for those with 4 yr degrees after 2003?(it's actually not 201) As far as I know, I only know 2.5 or 3 yr post pharmD programs, and master's degrees are NOT accepted.
  12. Your statement doesn't seem to make sense? How can a foreign pharmacist be practicing right now if he/she did not graduate yet from the Bachelor of Pharmacy program? The year 2008 has not even ended yet! Could you elaborate and be more clear plese? Do you mean those with a 4 year degree AFTER 2008 can practice in Illinois after gaining FPGEC?
  13. I know that you can take the Evaluating Exam in London, England. Is there also a course to study for this exam in London?
  14. Does this mean 4 yr degree grads after 2003 can be licensed?
  15. What pharmacy school in the UK did you graduate from? You can find more info about A-level with a 4 yr degree here: http://www.www.urch.com/forums/fpgee/88378-ece-uk-pharmacy-graduate-letter.html Or type in "UK" in the search engine here for more threads.
  16. Hi OzPharmacist, How are you doing with your current situation? What process are you in regarding the application and ECE? And would I have to complete my pre-reg in Australia if I am willing to take FPGEE in US? Or does this vary by state? The current job prospects of pharmacists in Australia seems very bleak. You can have a look what the reality is here: Pharmacist Salary! | Facebook Thank you, please keep me posted.
  17. Hi, I am currently a pharmacy student in Australia and I am planning to move to North America after I graduate soon due to the negative stream of job prospects of pharmacists in Australia(huge saturation and very low salary!). I have also checked the pharmacist license requirements for both US and Canada, which are very tough. One of my alternatives is applying for a PA program. However, according to my web search, it seems that many US PA programs require GRE or prerequisite subjects(that I have not taken in Australia) for admission. So I also thought about also applying to PA schools in Canada and even in Australia. These are my questions: 1. What's the starting average salary range for PAs in Canada and Australia? 2. What is the procedure for becoming a PA in the US after you graduate from a PA program in Canada or Australia? Thanks in advance for all those with inputs
  18. Hi, Can you work in a pharmaceutical company with just your BPharm degree alone? And if you were not a resident of US, how hard or easy was it for you in getting a job position? The only thing I can answer is that you are eligible for FPGEE b/c you graduated before 2003. I think you need to apply for this test through ECE.
  19. Portugal, What was the name of the pharmacy school you graduated? Are you currently a Portugal citizen?
  20. Hi, then how come IB is not recognized as university credits like A-levels? I know that many universities in US accept IB as college credits. I find it's discriminatory to only accept A-levels. This is my situation(slightly similar to Portugal's): I took 1.5 years of study at a US university prior to admission to a pharmacy school in Australia. The norm in Australia is that students go straight into the 4 year BPharm program from high school, however, for my specific case(since I graduated from a high school in US and so could not take A-levels,IB, or the pharmacy school's high school equivalent admission requirements), the pharmacy school required me to take at least one year of university studies before admission to my current pharmacy school. So this means Australian pharmacy schools like mine usually requires high school work or IB or etc. for admission for DOMESTIC students. Do you think ECE will consider my case? Do they accept you if you did total of 5 years of uni(as long as no overlap in subjects)including prerequisites regardless of the fact that domestic students usually take 4 years as the norm in a certain country? For example, what if someone has A-level records with an Australian 4 yr degree vs. A-levels with a UK 4 yr degree? or someone who has 1 yr university + Australian degree vs. 1 yr university + UK degree?
  21. Do you have to graduate from a COUNTRY that offers a 5 year pharmacy school? What if you graduate from a four year pharmacy school where the pre-requisite of 1 year of university was required for e.g. an international student?(but the country itself doesn't require that pre-requisite year for domestic students) Please read my further threads and posts if you would like to know further.
  22. What is the conversion course about? I thought those with 4 yr degrees after 2003 are not eligible for FPGEE?
  23. Just curious, what is the current job market for pharmacists in the Canada? Is there a surplus or demand of pharmacists there?(I know this may not be a simple Q to answer) Will there be a decreased demand for Canadian pharmacists in near future…….. | Pharmainfo.net -> How likely is this to happen? How soon?
  24. What's the acceptance rate for these international post pharmD programs? I come from a country where I face disadvantage of the grading scales, i.e. 70 is considered good in Australia, but that's a C- in US. And how can you get a job in US with a MS pharmacy degree? Isn't it nearly impossible to get a job without a greencard these days? What kind of career can you work in with this MS degree?
