  1. KillGmat you are right, For Q25 answer MUST be A. I explained above why did I discard C.
  2. For Q6, answer must be A. Robertson revised her hypothesis because she found about gender dominance in Ghana before that she generalized Africa and reasoned the society to be age dominant authority. She mentioned age in lines 24-26 to show that although gender was dominant but age still played a role. Author explained it very clearly and detailed in lines 45-50: However, (45) since age apparently remained the overriding principle of social organization in central Kenya, some senior women had much (50) authority. This once again shows that age mentioned in lines 24-26 was to show that there was no ABSOLUTE gender domination. Age was never a factor to change her hypothesis.
  3. @jadugar: Efforts to explain how the pterosaurs became airborne have led to suggestions that they launched themselves by jumping from cliffs, by dropping from trees, or even by rising into light winds from the crests of waves. This shows that they lived near large bodies of water. I'm little confused with Q2: How much difference is between unlikely and probable?
  4. Q25: answer can NOT be C. evaluating the conclusions reached by an author If at all there were an evaluation then of one conclusion and not of conclusion(s). There is one and only one conclusion of the authotr (Cornelia Hughes Dayton): statistics are somewhat deceptive Therefore answer should be A. Q27: It's a tough call ... Here we are concerned about financial concerns or economic activities of men and women. Men and women both of them had the similar economic activities, commercial interests and credit networks but the range of activities changed for both of them. Women’s economic activities (networks of credit and debt) remained primarily local and personal while Men’s economic activities (commercial interests and credit networks) became increasingly far-flung. We can see that its not their economic activities that changed (or varied) considerably rather range of economic activities changed (or varied) considerably. NOW comes the answer to: how can we say that women's economic activies were less varied in 18th century. I agree that there is no mention about this in the passage and it seems that it remained constant but I think there's a catch and all (almost all of us) fell prey to that one. Compare A to B. 17th century: A = 10 B = 10 A did not vary in comparison to B. 18th century A = 10 B= 50 A varied less in comparison to B which increased by 5 fold as A did. Women’s economic activities had become less varied by the end of the century IN COMPARISON TO men’s economic activities THAT had become more varied. Therefore answer should be B.
  5. MUST be C. According to the passage means answer is almost stated in the passage and no need is required to infer it. Highlighted part in the passage clearly shows that some companies are still generating these waste outputs despite the high compliance costs.
  6. perfectly explained by pach2212, username9, and powerthelogic :)
  7. @powerthelogic: I do agree with your reasoning. but writing first statement this way: "Exports of United States' American wood pulp will rise considerably during this year" will be awkward that is why second sentence should throw some light on the real meaning where it could not did and made the whole sentence ambiguous. I think, it's a minor point here but could make me choose another answer on real GAMT :)
  8. IMO D. If most of the other members of the new council will be representative of business management interests, there should be at least few members to take care of labor interests too and for that reason based on his stated qualities, Grayson is an excellent choice to chair the council.
  9. E does not even talk if children end up about potential music talent, it simply makes a recommendation that all children should study music so that they do not loose the potential opportunity. Because many school music programs encourage only children who demonstrate early aptitude to continue studying music, while children who do not appear especially musical are directed towards other activities, that way others, who do not demonstrate early aptitude to continue studying music, could possibly have interest that was not identified by schools or develop interest later if they continue to study music that is why author says that all children should study music.
  10. Hmmmm. what is the source of this question?
  11. victor we have to give support to the conclusion "therefore, the herb's high histidine production is what allows it to grow in metal-rich soils" and not to draw our own conclusion. D could be another conclusion but author has given already one and want to have support for that.
  12. praguish, I'm not an expert but personally I will never opt E and to be very honest if I am on Test, I will mark it as out of scope choice too :) At the first glance this seems to be completely out of scope but given time I could have to analyze the problem, I saw some degree of relevance but not a winner against C. It is ust my opinion.
  13. Agree with dbfinley, only negation of B breaks the argument apart.
  14. I am between C & E. C is appropriate if "closely related group of plants " referes to the plants spatially and physically growing near to the herb plant. If nearby plants can grow there and show similar behaviour of high histidine production then C is the right answer. E is my second choice, if we concentrate on word GROW then we can say that once herb approaches maturity (gowth process will become slower and slower) it does not need similar amount of histidine to sustain its growth therefore it can decline. But few questions are still open: Does excess histidine harms herb if it does not need it? If no then why should herb decline its production rate? Does herb produces histidine based on its need for survival or it is herb's normal behavior to produce histidine, if latter is the case, then E is completely wrong and as far as I can see there is no mention in the stimulus about this? If it is herb's normal behavior then hisidine production will not decline as herb approaches maturity. Therefore my take is C.
