  1. thanks! I didn't know that 'if only because" is idiom I searched and I got the following info on the idiom. ‘If only because X’ means ‘X is a good enough reason alone, but there may be other reasons too’. Please correct it if needed.
  2. A and C imply different meanings. X broke with Y after (...) ==> broke the relationship X broke with Y in dispute over (..) ==> broke in dispute any opinions? IMO A
  3. I think 'Assuming that" is correct idiom. Please correct me! b/w A and B. For past tense usage I select B.
  4. I also opted D for the same reason. Can Anyone Explain?
  5. My understanding is that in this case talk is of the emission of certain pollutants. Read it like like 'less gases/emission of certain pollutants' e.g. certain pollutants are X,Y,Z. so less of certain pollutants here will imply less amount of gases of X,Y,Z. Here we are not talking whether fewer pollutants among set of certain pollutants are getting emitted. Please correct me if I am wrong
  6. IMO..D as specified by buskool
  7. survey for severely injured - 20% ( with seat belts) and 80% ( without seat belts) lets assume if in county (only 20% wear seat belts) so that implies that 20-80 ratio is maintained even if you wear the seat belt or not. But in county if there are more ppl than 20% wearing seatbelt then the conclusion of usage of seat belt is appropriate. hence B
  8. IMO B - such as (for example) - 'on the basis' is correct usage for scientists
  9. IMO..E - less (emission is not countable) - comparison of vehicles
  10. I am still finding difficulty in eliminating (E) Autralia was (X). (X) = what had been known as the antipodes Past perfect makes sense as this happened in the past before the event of naming Australia as Australia. Can someone please enlighten me, what is wrong with my thinking?
  11. Thanks! I now noted the use of 'consider' Earlier I used to think like: Consider X Y doesn't require as in b/w. but X is consider Y requires 'as' in b/w but that is not required in this case also.
  12. IMO D.. Inaccurate is different from incomplete in B. D seems best option.
