  1. Criticism that the press panders to public sentiment neglects to consider that the press is a profit-making institution. Like other private enterprises, it has to make money to survive. If press were not profit-making, who would support it? The only alternative is subsidy and, with it, outside control. It is easy to get subsidies for propaganda, but no one will subsidize honest journalism. It can be properly inferred from the passage that if the press is (A) not subsidized, it is in no danger of outside control (B) not subsidized, it will not produce propaganda © not to be subsidized, it cannot be a profit-making institution (D) to produce honest journalism, it must be profit-making institution (E) to make a profit, it must produce honest journalism Please explain your approach for such questions. OA is:

  11. For Q3 If m r x and y are positive is the ratio of m to r equal to the ratio of x/y. 1) ratio of m/y is equal to the ratio of x to r. 2) ratio of m+x to r+y is equal to the ratio of x to y. Statement 1 m/y = x/r This doesn't give any info about comparison of ratios m/r = x/y, hence insufficient Statement 2 m+x/r+y = x/y This is equivalent t saying m/r = x/y becuase of the following property of ratios: a/b = c/d = d/e = ..... = k = a+c+d+.../v+d+e+..... i.e. 1/2 = 2/4 = 1+2/2+4 Thanks Vivek
