  1. Meggieski, I have derived a value for Y in terms of X..... X be total number of boxes loaded by day workers and Y be total number of boxes loaded by night workers per night worker no. of boxes = 3/4 per day worker no. of boxes no. of night worker = 4/5 no. day workers X + Y = total boxes loaded will be a multiplicative form of above... 8/5X = Total (1 + 3/5 = 8/5) Answer = 1/(8/5) = 5/8
  2. The approach listed by you is not right because it is mentioned the question that the draws were successive and hence 9C3 cannot be used for the 3 successive draws..
  3. The approach listed by you is not right because it is mentioned the question that the draws were successive and hence 9C3 cannot be used for the 3 successive draws..
  4. given that, area of rectangle = area of equilateral triangle s^2 = sq.rt (3)/ 4 T ^2 Hence answer is D
  5. The approach will be to back calculate... consider n = 111. F(n) will be 30.. 9 * F(n) = 270 Now break 270 into its factors and rearrange so tht it matches F(m) = 2 * 27 * 5... this implies x =1, y = 9, z = 1... m - n = 191 - 111 = 80
  6. Shud be 4/27 = 2/27* 2... Coz possibility of drawing red and white and the other case of white and red has to be considered
  7. 2 mins... reference calculation will be 120 / 6 = 20 mins....

    Smallest Integer

    nice approach arjmen !
  9. The best way to answer this question is by drawing an image of the carton with dimensions listed... Now arrive upon the diameter of the ball which is 2*2 = 4. Height given is 12... The maximum number of balls that can be placed height wise is only 1 in case of any dimension of the carton... 12 * 2 = 24 that is greater than 14, 16 and 20. Hence consider the height to be as 14, and consider the length and width as 20 and 16 respectively. This means along the length the number of balls that can fit are 20/4 = 5 and along the breadth the number will be 16/4 = 4. The total number of balls hence will be 5*4 = 20. C the right answer !
  10. Question #3: 14 * -3 = 42 (Trial and error works much faster.. Just break the individual number into multiples and work out) Question #4: X be total number of boxes loaded by day workers and Y be total number of boxes loaded by night workers per night worker no. of boxes = 3/4 per day worker no. of boxes no. of night worker = 4/5 no. day workers X + Y = total boxes loaded will be a multiplicative form of above... 8/5X = Total (1 + 3/5 = 8/5) Answer = 1/(8/5) = 5/8
  11. Question #1 Given the amount doubles in 70/r which implies that the amount will double every 8.75 years (70/8).... Given that the investment is for 18 years... Approximating 8.75 to 9, it will mean the amount of $5000 will become $10000 end of first 9 years and will then become $20000 by the end of 18.. Question #2 substitute b by c and the equation becomes, a-c/a+c = 0 which implies a=c..
  12. Zero is not considered as Positive integer. A number being positive or negative is defined on the basis of it being greater than or lesser than zero, and ZERO falls in the neither positive nor negative category !
