  1. powerscore cr bible is the best in my opinion, havent tried kaplan but from what i hear kaplan doesnt cover the hardest questions or hard questions. However, you would still need the OG and the GMAT Verbal Review for practice questions, nothings better than the books the GMAT gives
  2. New Jersey's is possessive hence it seems like New Jersey has lyme disease so we can eliminate A and B. B also makes it like New Jersey is doing the reporting. C changes meaning, saying that NJ has the actual report, the document. Hence New Jersey is not one the five states with the highest cases of Lyme disease but some other state. D. is correct E. there's an issue when you say NJ reports, meaning that NJ is only reporting but it is not clear that NJ has one of the five highest cases of Lyme disease.
  3. I think its C, A and B both use had been, which states that the action happen and stopped in the past, C uses the present have been allowed.
  4. "it" is singular so it has to refer to Museum, and the museum cannot request itself to return anything In B them refers to greek authorities, which means that the museum is requesting that the greek authorities return the parthenon marbles C makes it look like the british museum is requesting to return the parthenon marbles D correct its the greeks who want the parthenon and it correctly refers to the museum E them refers to the authorities
  5. economy is also singular. In this case it refers to whatever is closest to it. Since economy is closer than Florida is "it" refers to economy
  6. Yes were is plural but there is only one emotion that is talked about
  7. considered (nothing) is the correct idiom so narrow down to A and D. he stunned his family and friends "by filing and [by] setting" the by is not included in the sentence but if you put it before setting you can see that the sentence is parallel as it is Answer is A
  8. prefer X to Y is the correct idiom Something else is tested here, the judges do not Prefer X to Y, rather they have a preferred reference But if your not sure just look for other errors A) a lot is wrong with A but the most obvious of all is "distributed among the rich and the poor" the rich and the poor are two groups so "between" should be used B) C) among - wrong idiom D) some litigants have a preferred status to another doesn't make much sense E) Among
  9. Just because ... does not mean - not just because... did not mean
  10. there is no ambiguity with D, 95% cannot refer to the department as there is only one department, so the only thing it can refer to is the child care centers. The use of a semi colon in choice E should give u a hint. The sentence coming after the semi colon should be able to stand alone so "the range was from splinters to equipment near collapse." should be independent, it is not so you know that the semi colon has been used incorrectly. HTH
  11. Answer is B, their - refers to the doctors and "to do so" refers to finding a cure for the common cold them is the wrong pronoun so A and C are out D is ok up to when they say "to do it"; to do what? E same as D HTH
  12. A: over 2500 miles long and extending - it should be extends B: extended (past tense) makes it sound like the road does not extend from ecuador to peru anymore C: placing "the Incan highway" inside the commas means that it is additional information that does not need to be there for the sentence to make sense, but if you take it out the sentence makes no sense what so ever D: same as C and changes meaning when it says "was extended" E: Correct, removing phrases the sentence would read; The greatest road system built in the Americas, the Incan highway was over 2500 miles long, extending from northern Ecuador through Peru to southern chile
  13. For the first question: visitors have often looked and "have often saw" that doesn't make much sense. so its between D and E Whose is a possessive verb, so it has to refer to monkeys or visitors. here to refers to monkeys cause it is closer to monkeys. D is parallel For the second question: the statement "with higher-than-average blood pressure" is an adjectival phrase modifying young people, which is the subject of the sentence. so if we remove the phrase it reads: Studies have shown that young people whose families have a history of high blood pressure are more likely than others to develop a severe form of the condition Hope that clears things up
  14. relations is plural so it needs the plural verb illustrate, one nation with another is unidomatic relation changes the meaning The answer is C Whats the OA
