  1. Hospital statistics regarding people who go to the emergency room after roller-skating accidents indicate the need for more protective equipment. Within this group of people, 75 percent of those who had accidents in streets or parking lots were not wearing any protective clothing(helmets, knee pads, etc.) or any light reflecting material(clip-on lights, glow-in-the-dark wrist pads, etc.).Clearly, these statistics indicate that by investing in high-quality protective gear and reflective equipment, roller skaters will greatly reduce their risk of being severely injured in an accident, The speaker asserted that the sole cause of roller-skating accidents in streets or parking lots is for not using or apathy for using protective clothing like helmets, knee pads etc. Moreover, this assumption is made from a hospital statistics, which indicates 75 percent of accidents happen only for not using protective clothing, but, it does not tell us the details of this statistical analysis and hence, it is not realistic enough to sustain the speaker's judgment. Finally, the speaker has blindly proposed to invest in high quality protective gear and reflective equipments to reduce the severe injury in accidents. On the basis of the above I will elaborate the flaws in the argument in the following discussion. Though, using protective instrument during skating is necessary, yet, not using it is not the only reason for the accident. Accident may happen for several other reasons like reckless skating, not following traffic rules and sometimes may be it is not at all the fault of the skater, it is some high speeding vehicles caused the curse. So, this is one of the main flaws of this argument. However, the speaker’s opinion could be substantiated by proper statistics, which has accounted handsome number of accidental events, in different cities in all over the world or covers a large area and then, by analyzing those data, it could be inferred that the cause of 75 percent accidents are only because of not using protective instruments. It is not clear from the argument that how this statistical analysis has been done, the speaker, might have collected a very few incidents in a small area and on the basis of that miniscule information taking the decision. Finally, the speaker suggested for the investment of high quality protective equipment as a solution to reduce the number of accidents; nonetheless, after investing in protective instruments, it is not guaranteed that the accidents will reduce significantly because of the vague statistics provided herewith. One might find that the percentage of accidents are not at all decreased, rather increased after investing high amount behind those protective devices. To conclude, I must vote for the use of protective equipments to reduce the accidents of roller skater but could not be able to suggest for an investment for only buying protective guard and reflecting device, rather will collect some realistic data and after analyzing those information take the final decision whether to invest for a particular devices or to impose some exemplary punishment for violating traffic rules or whatever relevant..

The First World War began in a context of jargon and verbal delicacy and continued in a cloud of ____ as ______ as language and literature, skillfully used, could make it. first word should be related with "jargon and verbal delicacy(+ve)...so it is obviously euphemism.......second word should have some +ve or -ve quality like language and literature....so it may be lucid but it is against euphemism or jargon....so i think now u can link.... other one is not totally clear to me
  7. People should not be praised for their virtue if they lack energy to be ___ ; in such cases goodness is merely the effect of ___ should not be praised for their virtue....it means they dont show virtue...so first blank should be opposite of virtue......second blank should be something which is related to lack of energy rather the cause of that...so it is indolence----

  15. "It is unfortunate that today's educator’s place so much emphasis on finding out what students want to include in the curriculum and then giving it to them. It is the educators' duty to determine the curriculum and the students' duty what is presented to them" The curriculum should be prepared by the educators at schools or universities because the educators are more aware than the students to decide what a student should know during his/her course of study to complete the ultimate perspective of the course work. However, students can be involved during the preparation of a certain course work just to know their specific interests or whether they feel it as too easy or very difficult to complete within the specified time. But, it should be keep in mind that an educator is more matuared than a student, so the ultimate objective of the course work should not be hindered in any way.I will elaborate it in details with relevant examples in the following discussion. If we consider the undergraduate course work of engineering at certain universities or colleges, we will see that all engineering students generally follow the same coursework in their first year of studies, independent of their stream. An engineer from electical decipline might feel uncomfortable during the mechanics class and may force to omit the mechanics from their course work because he/she is not matured enough to understand the fact that he/she should know all basics of engineering to reach the prime destination. In this case, it is an educator's duty to make him understand the real fact and stick to the curriculum, prepared by them. Nonetheless, if we go ahead with the above example, we will find that sometimes it is also required to hear the students voice in some specific cases.Todays technology is not static,it is always progressing in its own pace. So, we should follow the technological trends and according to that should modify our curriculum of studies. The course work of engineering today should not be as it was in five years ago. A student of electronics may feel that in their course work ,for example, the integrated circuit designing technogy subject only covers those details which are totally obsolate and not used in todays world. He/She may sought for the inclusion of modern technology in their course work and the educators should give their honest efforts to fulfill students logical need. Additionally, it has also been observed that some students run behind the certificate or documented expertise in some specific fields to enhance their chances of getting high paid salary in the industry. In this case a student can object against the curriculum and may sought for the inclusion of the subject of interest. As an example, an undergraduate student of computer science may feel that 'JAVA' is a subject which will increase his chance of getting high salary in the IT sector. But the coursework is not built to learn any specific language rather built for the basic understanding of programming languages. The educator should not entartain the students need because it impede the basic objective of the coursework. In sum, it should be noted that a curriculum is meant to fulfill the complete objective of certain coursework,it does not matter whether it has been determined mostly by the educators or by the students. It should cover all basic goals of that particular course and let student to progress further.

  24. Hi Hauser, please evaluate my essay 4. "No field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experience to that field of study." The speaker, here, asserted that outside field expertise and knowledge is must for the advancement of any field of study. Undoubtedly, I support the statement of the speaker just because of the fact that we, human being, have categorized our field of study to attain certain goals of our life. For example, ‘science’ is used basically to decipher the mystery of the universe or beyond and for the technological advancement; ‘art’ is used to cultivate our culture and to know our topography and history of our evolution. However, none of these can exist without the help of other. Again, if we think about intra categorization like physics mathematics as a sub part of science and history and literature as of arts, then inter dependency is also required to go forward. With the above mentioned examples I will elaborate my views in detail to support my opinion. First, in support of our views on intra subject relationship, we are considering a scientific research organization, doing basic nuclear physics research using accelerators. The basic objective of the organization is to accelerate charged particles to bombard a target, made of say gold, to study the after effect of the phenomenon, by which the characteristics of certain unknown elements can be studied. The knowledge of nuclear physics will not suffice to achieve it without designing of an accelerator, which itself demand the involvement of several domain like mechanical, civil, cryogenics, electronics etc.. Moreover, the involvement of electronics to design a data acquisition system, which provides raw information of the phenomenon, is inevitable and furthermore the knowledge about computer science is also necessary to develop a software, which shows a realistic presentation of the event. Now, with the same example, if we proceed to discuss about inter relationship of two broad domains like ‘art’ and ‘science’, we will see that the study of different languages could not be avoided to do collaborative research, without which advancement of research is impossible. There are many examples where an entirely different field has been reached in very advanced stage during the study of a main field. The concept of internet is one of the examples which evolved during the collaborative research of European defense scientists, needed to interact amongst themselves using a virtual medium. Nowadays, the use of technology is everywhere in the field of arts. Video and audio technology is used extensively in film, music and theatre to make it more realistic. The knowledge of fields like history and geography are not limited in the text book, but can easily be available in the internet with proper graphical representation which interests many to study those subjects and henceforth helps the advancement. However, in contrast, there are certain fields do not require the involvement of outsiders for its advancements. As an example a painter shows the mastery of painting by his own skill. But, this is very narrow domain, compared to other. To conclude, I must say that all existed field somehow overlaps with each other because they are essentially converging to a main field which is mankind and the universe.
  25. Thanks in advance 38. "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books." The habit of reading books is not at all important nowadays for the enrichment of knowledge; rather one can learn as much by watching television. I strongly oppose this view of the speaker. Television, mostly used for the entertainment, merely enhance our wisdom, on the other hand it is needless to say, books have been used as the primary source of information from the ancient times and even in today. First and foremost, television industry, combination of many business organizations, broadcasts only those programs which increase their TRP (Television Rating Points) and eventually raise the business. If it would have been a learning media, it could have telecast audio visual tutorials of all subjects, concerned to enhancement of our knowledge in several fields. But the programs are mostly related to entertainment or information about certain events. The category of the program, if one has to draw out, will be like news, movies, sports, and other form of entertainment. However, books are the collection of information, acquired by understanding or visual evidence, to distribute and share knowledge amongst all. So, the habits of reading books will always pertain to learning or understanding. For example, from our childhood, we learn the basics of language, mathematics, history, geography by reading several books. Academician, at school and college, always suggest referring different books for better understanding and enhancement of our knowledge, instead of watching television for the same. According to the psychologists, reading is a habit by which we can penetrate deep into the subject because we can control the pace of reading and understanding, whereas, information gathered from television are ephemeral. Moreover, reading loud helps us to memorize effectively. Needless to say, television program are often interrupted by commercial advertisement which breaks our concentration and impede our learning. For example, reading a book of geography to know about landscapes for some hours is always fruitful to enhance our knowledge rather than watching ‘national geographic' (a particular television channel), which also broadcast programs about the same. Nevertheless, one would argue that if a book is not good enough to clear the idea of a subject then it will no way be helpful to increase the knowledge, rather, it will inject some misconception about the subject, whereas an audio visual program prepared with well thought to make the subject simple, by using realistic approaches, always will be considered as a worth choice. However, in real world , the number of good audio visual program ,deliberately built for the core understanding of the subject, compared to number of good books are few and hence, can be considered as an exception. In sum, television provides us information about current affairs, and, admittedly we acquire some scattered knowledge of several fields which is definitely helpful to enhance our wisdom. So, if we concerned about some scattered knowledge and knowledge about current affairs, the speaker is fundamentally correct.
