Try to find out the overall ratio of
diamond : rubi : emeralds
easiest way is to convert 5/6 and 8/3 in such a that denominator of 5/6 and nominator of 8/3 become equal. as, multiple the first ration by 4 and multiply second ration by 3.
it results 20/24 and 24/9. Now, we can write
diamond : Rubi : emeralds = 20:24:9
Is there any common divisor? no.
so minimum possible # of jewels are 20+24+9=53
Removing corner cube will loose area of 3 unit. however, Removing that cube will open 3 new unit area. thats why the resultant 'surface area' will not be change.
