    Fall 2011

You can do that after you create an account on the ets site. There's a link for it. it cost about $23 per additional school, but you do that after you take the test.
  2. go to Princetonreview.com and kaplan.com and create an account and you will get access to one test on each site. If you purchase books by either of these test prep companies you can obtain more tests.

    Fall 2011

an international debit card should work. I'm not sure when your application deadlines are but if you're seeking admission for Fall 2011 you should consider taking the test earlier because your schools may not get your scores on time and many school will not accept/review an incomplete application. Just giving you a heads up.
  4. you probably got easier questions wrong and harder ones right.
  5. also if you have been reading these threads you would know that 800score is nothing like the real test in terms of difficulty. Their tests tend to have more difficult questions in both sections which most people score lower on. As i said powerprep would be a more accurate measure or you could take the free kaplan or free princeton review test on the website.
  6. the big book tests are paper based therefore they don't test how well you'll score on the actually test. You should take CAT and see how you perform. Powerprep are a bit easier than Kaplan and Princeton Review in my opinion and it is also most like the real test.
  7. It wont look bad but there is no need to retake the test for 20 extra points. its not going to make a big difference.
  8. definitely above 1000. Try to aim for around 1200 minimum. But honestly you have to look at all your admissions requirements. Your GPA, Recommendations, GRE, etc. and every school has different requirements, the minimums vary some schools have no minimum but their applicants have high score so you really have to do the research for your program before you start worrying about what score you need to get.

    Need suggestion

You could mention the reason you took 2 years off in your personal statement.
  10. that would be your responsibility to research. not every school is the same so you would have to see what particular schools you want to apply to and then check out their admissions requirements and procedure.
  11. what is your gpa for the last two years of undergraduate work?
  12. Unfortunately, while you have good scores for the Quantitative section of the Verbal section, your writing score will not get you into a top university. Since you scored well on the others you should be able to do a repeat performance on those if you retake the test. try to get at least a 4.5 but a 5-6 would be ideal for a top school. if you got even a 3-4 you could apply to a master's program and do well and then pursue a PhD.
  13. I do not believe the GRE is necessary for Canadian Universities and I know nothing about Australian universities. However, the GRE is required for most US graduate programs so you should look into that prior to registering for the test because it's a relatively expensive test.
  14. schools suggest you take it before October so that there is enough time for the scores to be sent to them because every part of your application has to be to in by the deadline. if not they may not consider looking at it. I wouldn't say don't take the best any later than the beginning of October if you're looking for admission for the next fall.
  15. no you didn't miss anything. the voluntary section is just that...voluntary so you are fine.
  16. Your score is fine for a top school. Keep in mind the GRE score isn't the determining factor so keep your grades up and you will be fine, esp. for that field.
  17. I would be favourable if your math score was in the 700 but honestly, I think you can apply with that score. If you have the gpa requirement etc. and email some professors from schools you are considering I dont see why you wouldn't receive TA/RA provided the school has the funding.
  18. Hey shuttle, I took the gre yesterday and i got 1150, but i'm going to apply anyway. I think you should re-take the test depending on what kind of school you want to go to. i'm planning on applying with the score i received yesterday because I don't want to go to a top school. What are your individual scores on the test? What program are you applying for?
  19. "A movie producer sent the following memo to the head of the movie studio. “We need to increase the funding for the movie Working Title by 10% in order to ensure a quality product. As you know, we are working with a first-time director, whose only previous experience has been shooting commercials for a shampoo company. Since the advertising business is notoriously wasteful, it stands to reason that our director will expect to be able to shoot take after take, without concern for how much time is being spent on any one scene. In addition, while we have saved money by hiring relatively inexperienced assistant producers and directors, this savings in salary will undoubtedly translate to greater expenditures in paying the actors and unionized crew overtime for the extra hours they will spend on the set waiting for the assistant directors and producers to arrange things. If we don’t get this extra money, the movie is virtually assured to be a failure.”" The producer's argument that by increasing the movie's funding by 10% will produce a better quality product and reduce failure is flawed and lacks concern for consequence. The producer should consider his reasons for his decisions more consciously inorder to be successful. First, the producer argues that increasing funding will increase the quality of the movie. The amount of money spent of the move does not necessarily correlate with the quality. If this producer was a serious figure in the film/movie community, he would realize that experienced actors, directors, crew, a well thought out and written script all attribute to a good quality movie. Next, he has hired a first time diirector who is inexperienced and has only shot shampoo commercials. It is difficult to fathom why a serious film maker who is concerned about the quality of his film would hire a director with no experienced making a movie. This puts the quality of the film and his reputation in jeopardy. Finally, the producer shares that the advertising industry is notorious for being wasteful. The budget for the film is limited and the director hired to direct the movie is from an industry known for wasting funds and due to his inexperience, is expected to waste ample time also. The fact that the director may be wasteful with the funds, should lead the producer to anticipate that the 10% increase in funding may not be adequate and there may not be greater expenditures in paying the actors. The producer of this movie clearly has not considered the best manner to ensure a quality product. His most significant error in this argument is in hiring an inexperienced, potentially wasteful director to direct a movie whose quality he is questioning. Until he realizes that in order to produce a quality product he should invest in quality and experienced workers who may also have the capibility to work with a limited budget, the movie will fail.
  20. Hey guys can you read and this essay for me Science is meaningless without religion Science can be applied to a plethora of ideas which may or may not hold any religious significance. In early times, the most significant accomplishments were those that disproved many beliefs that were produced by the Church. Science may have advanced at a hastier pace due to the Church's inaccuracies but it remains a vital, meaningful tool to the advancement of non-religious aspects of society. Concider the famous disproof by Nicholas Copernicus that the Sun was the center of the Universe and the Earth was not, contrary to the belief of the Church. This was major breakthrough in science and enabled accurate alteration of our view of the solar system. Had the Church not pushed the theory of a universe centered at the Earth, Copernicus may or may not have been compelled to embark on such research. Regardless, a major scientific step was made upon this discovery and its greatness was due in part by the Churches erroneous teachings. There are modern scientific accomplishments that, while the Chruch may not approve of them, they do not require any religious support or significance for society to recognize its meaning. For example, In vetro fertilization has for years assisted couples to concieve and child. When a woman possesses a medical condition that reduces her capabiity to concieve or simply is unable to for unexplained reasons, this medical procedure becomes an expensive, painful, and long but hopeful option that can fulfil her and her partner's desires. The Church objects to the artifitial insemination of a woman, however, this breakthrough did not relied on religious insight. This science has the power to bring life into the world and bring two people the a much desired gift they would have otherwise not obtained. Science and religion have, for centuries, collided when scientists attempted to validate that which the Church had divinely ascertained and preached. Religion's early influence on society may in fact be the reason some major scientific findings bore some religous significance. However, science continues to produce major developments, increasing the quality of life without religion, verifying that science can be meaningful without religion.
  21. I'm actually taking the test tomorrow morning. wish me luck!
