  1. I don't remember 'applying', I just remember they told us to go the office one of the first days to pick up our TA packages. Regular MA students might be different.
  2. I did my MA in Toronto and from what I remember everyone I knew got a TAship. Also from the departments website regarding TAships for MA students... " The availability of these positions varies from year to year, but in recent years many students in the Regular Stream have obtained such positions.". I'm going back this year for my PhD so I suppose I'll be seeing some of you around?
  3. Probability of getting a TAship is pretty high (around 0.894). Not sure about OGS.

  5. It does sound like a very nice place by everything you're telling us. Looking at the placements I see a lot of students end up doing post-docs but I wonder how they place after those post-docs? Do you have any info on that? thanks again
  6. im not thrilled about the fact that they combined the econ and finance phds into one, but i applied regardless cause they have good people in political economy (tabellini) and development (la ferrara) do you know if tabellini advises students? also, when do they usually send out admission decisions? and, is there a bias towards italian students? im afraid ill have to make a decision by april 15 without having heard back from bocconi and then have to possibly change my decision if im accepted there thanks
  7. Institution: Georgetown Program: Economics PhD Decision: Waitlisted Funding: Yes if admitted Notification date: March 9 Notified through: Email Posted on GC: Yes Comments: Good! Please let them know if you don't plan on attending.
  8. They might send out early admits with relatively short reply deadlines to people who they think are likely to have better offers. At least I hope that's the case...
  9. according to the repec/ideas rankings, UCSC is better than UCI overall and also for monetary econ - how reliable are these rankings?

  11. I don't see a "View Decision" link on the NWU site... I think that's a good sign... or am I probably just looking at the wrong page?
  12. Did you duke admits all have interviews? Congrats and thanks.
  13. It might be a matter of preference but I personally cannot do work on my iMac. I use it for browsing/watching movies/garageband/iMovie, but when it comes to work/research I use a PC (STATA/Excel/Access).
  14. Institution: UC Santa Cruz Program: PhD Economics Decision: Accepted Funding: Yes Notification date: 2/24/2012 Notified through: email Posted on GC: no Comments: My first result, good
  15. There is a bias because a portion of the funding is reserved for Canadian students, how much however, I'm not sure. Good luck!
  16. All DSMA students are funded; around 10 students enter each year. If you are not accepted into the DSMA, you are considered for the regular stream (no funding) and if accepted you can choose to take a PhD-level course (same as a DS student).
