  1. Incoming AP at top R1 here passing by to reminisce about the PhD journey, but I felt that I needed to respond here. The truth for most places is that your application will likely be tossed and someone else will be invited. At any R1, there's no scarcity of qualified applicants so they will just invite someone else out who would get the slot over you. There's exceptions, but I foresee this being your experience at most schools where you turn down a visit. Tough position to be in - best of luck to you.

Age: 22 International Student Undergrad: Criminology, top school in USA, 3.95 GPA Grad: I/O Psychology, 3.96 GPA, Full-tuition Graduate Assistantship GRE: 160 Q 163 V 4 AW, not very good at standardized testing Quant classes limited to Algebra, Stats, and Advanced Stats. Research experience: - Presentation of original research at conference for graduate students - Survey research with a professor - I was the Quantitative Analysis Consultant and now am Principal Investigator for a pilot program in higher education for a state university system Research Interests: Innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership Teaching experience: - Lab instructor Experimental Methods in Psychology class - TA for Organizational Diversity class for Psych, Communications and Business school students Recommendations: One from my OB professor (and supervisor) who has taught at several well ranked business schools, one from the director of the psychology program who is an I/O Psychologist, and one from my stats professor who is highly published on survey research. Concerns: Undergraduate major, GRE scores (esp. Q and AW), Number of Quant classes Any insight would be appreciated.
