  1. Hey :) well, only a couple of schools from my choice allow to submit the recos online :(
  2. Hey. I am kinda back :) hope you remembert me, folks. You know, the problem is that here, in my country, we don't realle use letterheads.. So.. what would you suggest me to do? I typed them out myself, but the professors will sign anything. So, do you think it's fine if the letters are on a usual paper, but signed, and sealed into an envelope with a department's stamp on the envelope's seam? I heard from a friend of mine that it might be useful to print my university's logo on the envelope, so it would look kinda official.. what do you think?
  3. Thank you holden! My friend studied in Madison. And he told me it was an awesome campus.. i will definitely apply for it, although it's kinda out of my league..
  4. Thank you. I do consider arizona. and i will check the rest.. gosh. i am so nervous
  5. I would highly recommend to focus on quant now. the words that you've learnt don't need revision- they will emerge in your memory during the test.. reading can be tough, but this is a matter of luck you know.. well, for math.. you need SPEEEEEEEEED! the best way is PRACTICING OLD PAPER TESTS (Big Book, 10 Korean tests)- their quants are 30 mins/30 questions... try to solve the entire section in only 15-20 minutes.. if you can do it with two-three mistakes, then you're almost ready!PLUS- of course get familiraized with all the probability and permutation **** that is being discussed so thoroughly on this forum. although there almost won't be problems that hard, still you need to know how to cope with them.. bottom line: read and solve ALL PROBLEMS from the forum + PRACTICE SPEEDY SOLVING THE PROBLEMS FROM PAPER TESTS. This is what i was doing.. although by the time when it was a week before the test, my speed was alright, so i was only reading the forum, solving their problems etc. this forum is a MAGICAL PLACE! again I am telling the people from forum THANK YOU ALL!
  6. you all've heard this before, but i would love to repeat this because this was very helpful for me at my quant(and i got 800, if i am not wrong, although I now have some doubts about it - paranoic freak ).. after the writing sections, always do take a 10 minutes break. have some water and then take a pensil and just slowly and patiently start writing the formulas in the corner of the sheet.. especially the ones you always had troubles to memorize.. i wrote aryphmetic and geometric progressions (the formulas that i can't remember since i was 14), the formula of the area of equilateral triangle ( every time i had to derive it, because i never remember it exactly- it's a simple process, but takes some time, so i derived it again during the break), and when i had about 2-3 minutes left from the break, I simply started writing down the prime numbers (i have troubles with prime numbers that are larger than 50 or so, so i have to check every time if the number is divisable by this or that number), so i could refer to the list when doing some tasks. i can say that I DID use those formulasand prime numbers list. although this might be weird for a student majoring in mathematic- to do this kind of ****, but you know it was helpful for me. and also during the break, i put the keyboard aside, layed out the sheets so that it would be convenient etc.. USE YOUR BREAK TIME WISELY. this is important. good luck to all of you!
  7. they say that they average somehow.. although it depends on a school. what is for sure is that ETS sends ALL your gre scores to the schools and what a school looks at- depends on the particular school.. this is my vision.
  8. hey.. here are my test results.. (leaving aside all the rest factors- academics, recos etc...) do i have any chances to be enrolled and get the teaching assistantship for the MS in Computer Science (i am not really hoping for the TOP-schools) : ------------------- GRE Q800/V540 TOEFL 280 TSE 50 ------------------- maybe even some of you could recommend me some schools where i could apply (not top) thank you a lot! this is very important to know ASAP (i don't even sleep normally, because i don't know if i should retake the GRE or leave it as it is..)
  9. Hey guys again. I managed to find this distributive.. So if anyone needs this program for the Pocket PC- please feel free to email me to alexeio@splinex.ru ,, i'll be happy to help. although I can'r say that my verbal score is perfect, I assure you- this soft helped me a lot! oops and sorry in my prev post i said i was practicing analogies.. i meant antonyms. it;s about 1.4 MB.. many many words.
  10. yeah.. i am with you mech.. my score was 800/540 and i don't know if i should retake it.. maybe somebody can tell me: WHO IS THE VERY BEST EXPERT on this issue in this forum? who can give me an advise? i wanna apply for Comp Sci.. and i did see at some schools' sites that verbal matters when applying for the Teaching Assistantship.. but on the other hand i have a descent toefl of 280 and tse of 50... gosh.. what should i do. and i do agree that verbal is very much about luck.. although i knew almost all words, reading was TOUGH.. one text was over 120 lines! and all three text were so stupid! i am pretty much confident with text on natural sciences, physics, stars, bacterias etc.. but when the text is about the role of a woman in the english literature of 18th centure and sh*t like that- this totally freaks me out! by the way.. i wouldn't say math was that hard.. maybe harder than that of PPs.. but no harder than most of the problems of this forum.. although.. i am getting paranoic these days.. i am thinking stuff like "what if i saw wrong numbers?! what if it was 700 instead of 800??" although i am pretty much sure verbal was 540, not 740.. i am worried for Quant.. i've read the post of the same paranoic guys like me here :) when will i get the score report?
  11. what i meant was compare the average of all lengths of the months and amedian of all lengths of the months. well it is simple.. you don't even need to calculate anything. you just note that there are more 31-day-months than any other months in the year. so the median is 31. and since there are also months with 30 and 18 days, the average is soimewhat less than 31.
  12. real test: 540/800 PP1 710/800 PP2 i guess it was 570/800 at first attempt and never got higher than 640/800
  13. thank you guys for your pieces of advice :) i'll think of them tomorrow.i'm still too tired. i do know that the schools average somehow the scores of all your attempt and i'm cool about it, if i can get 800 in quant again.. and i think i can. anyway.. but 540- this is so low! my toefl is ok. and tse also.. i am still so worried. well. i hope tomorrow i will be having some different view at all my problems.
  14. the high score in verbal can help get the TA, as far as i know :( well... i will definitely go for one more try.. bummer! i am so tired!
