i would suggest u to go for the asst. prof's reco. I have talked to many seniors recos from lecturer dont count much. Instead u could get a reco from some indusstry ( where u did ur training). hope it helps!

First my profile: GRE : 1400 (660v; 740q)....AWA result awaited. Acads : 69% (till 5th sem..6th sem result is not out yet){topper has around 76-77%} Delhi College of Engineering Projects/internship : 1)Currently involved in a research project at IIT-D (its been about 3 months)..i will try my best to get a paper out of it. 2) Summer training at SONA KOYO Steering Systems Ltd. 3) Industrial project in a small manufacturing company. 4)Would be starting with my 8th sem project soon. Extra curricular/awards : National Science Olympiad - National Rank...181. District topper in science in 10th (98%) Active member of SAE Applying for MS in Manufacturing(machining,stress analysis,fabrication,design ...and kindred) My queries: 1) Where do i stand..how high should i aim (in terms of univ. ranking) 2) Are CAD/CAM, Design and Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Design Dynamics separate branches? Which one is good in terms of job placement and getting aid. 3)Also what is the scenario of Manufacturing (mechanical) in terms of getting aid and jobs. What is all this GPA crap!!!! U dont need to calculate ur GPA while applying.All u need is a first class (60+) for clearing the bare minimum. Also the reputation of ur undergrad college is a important factor.

hi yaar, was in a pretty much same situation as u are, got 740 in quant (overall 1400). A low gre score is certainly not the end of the world.Ur other credentials are of equal import as well! hey yaar. what are the avg. gre cut-off scores in all the sections : here are my speculations(do correct me) verbal around 450 ..... quant around 720 ..... AWA 4.5 ur suggestions are most welcome:)

sorry guys, was in a real trauma last 2 days.Counld'nt contain my self. I feel much better now . here's what i got in verbal: first 2 ques. were analogies followed by 2-3 simple antonyms.One word that i found out of barrons was SALVE.....but i knew it and clicked irritant quickly.Then 2-3 sentences followed by 45 line rc ....I got a 95 line rc which took some time (i think i made most of the mistakes here) . Last rc was 35 lines. I finished my verbal well before time had 4-5 mins to spare! My verbal prep : Thorough study of barrons including all tests. I also read " All about words" , "Norman lewis" and "30 days to power vocab". As i did not have BIg Book i practiced from downdowndown.net (all of analogies and antonyms) sentences comp. from : http://www.resourcecenter.info/gre.htm I did'nt practice rc's (only rcs in tests ) practices tests from cambridge,kaplan,pp. What i feel is that the real GRE verbal is very close to PowerPrep verbal(only verbal, pp quant is nowhere near to real quant).
