  1. It's best if you go by professors. In other words, if you know what you want to do, look for professors that are working on that topic and see which ones are better and place their students better.
  2. Oh! It's nice to see people got admitted to one of their dream schools. I wish I knew which school it is. ;)
  3. I heard from someone that they have already interviewed a few people. But, they have not sent out the offers, yet.
  4. One irrelevant question. How do you rank schools? The only ranking of OM programs that I know of is USNEWS Production/Operations and that is an MBA ranking. Do you guys know of a PhD ranking for OM?
  5. What about you gmatdanger? Have you receive an offer? If yes, would you mid sharing it with us?
  6. Got the offer form Tepper. Don't know what to do now! I'll be even more confused if/when I get one from Ross! What do you think guys? Which one should I chose? They are all good schools and I can not rule any one out.
  7. That IS possible. Specially, if they have already sent out a few offers. If they have not, I would say what I said is more probable.
  8. They probably want you. But, are not sure whether you are still available or not. Probably because you're out of their league. So, choose your word carefully.
  9. I heard from a friend of mine that Sloan did not take any OM students last year and most probably it will not be taking any this year. I think MIT is shifting operations out of the business school and into the ORC.
  10. 1) The post is most probably genuine. According to previous years' posts, it is time for GSB to send out a few offers. 2) I thought Haas and Sloan aren't taking students in OM any more. Did you get an interview? You should have applied to ORC instead. 3) According to a post on GC, Columbia GSB has already interviewed a few people. If that post is genuine, they must have made a few offers by now. Unless, something really strange is going on, which I suspect that would be the case. 4) Interview invites for Tepper were sent out last week. To the best of my knowledge, most of the interviews were conducted on Tuesday. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't worry about Tepper. You were interviewed for Ross. Tepper is no better than Ross, except maybe in terms of location.
  11. Congratulation, and all this time I thought you're an OM guy!
  12. Reminder: 1) All good things come to those who wait. 2) All good things come in pairs. I have first hand experience. Believe me! BTW, I know that Kellogg has already made a few offers as you can see on TheGradCafe, and Ross is planning to send out the offers next week.
  13. I couldn't have put it any better myself. Let me just add that it is wiser to decline the offers you really do not want as soon as possible. The reason for this is not the people who are waiting in line after you. No, don't get me wrong. It is nice to be nice. But, you should not forget that 4-5 years from now, you'll be interviewing for jobs in these schools. You do not want them to have a bad impression of you.
  14. Well, I don't think it is. But, strangely enough, Kellogg's admitted applicants have a tendency of rejecting the offer and joining another school. This is clear from their pretty high acceptance rate (compared to other business schools). So, don't lose hope. The admit day is in mid March. If enough people reject the offer, you will hear from them late in March. At least 10. The Prof who was interviewing me said he's interviewing 3. Another prof is going to interview 3, and another one 4. So, at least 10! BTW, do you guys mind sharing your result (interviews/offers/rejections) with us?
  15. Unfortunately, It's an 8-hour flight. I'll try to talk to them on Skype.
  16. I received an in-person interview offer from LBS a few weeks ago.
  17. The professor who was interviewing me told me that they usually admit 7-8 people every year to ensure that 2-3 enrol in the program. FYI, here's their admission statistics from previous years. http://tinyurl.com/lzapdlx
  18. Welcome. Yes, I did. How about you? What research topics are you interested in? Stochastic modelling? Optimization? Game theory? Decisions? ...
