  1. I understand the directions the words in the problem are telling me what to do. It was figuring out 1/10% that was throwing me. I found a simple explanation in the Princeton Review. I don't care what the HATERS say about PR, I found it to be a wonderful resource. Thanx anyway
  2. Can someone please show me step by step how to solve this problem.(I am horrible at math, so please make it as easy as possible) I cannot figure out how I am messing up my conversions. When 1/10 percent of 5000 is subtracted from 1/10 of 5000, the difference is: A) 0 B) 50 C) 450 D) 495 E) 500
  3. I haven't seen the latest edition of the OG, but I have seen the 10th ed. Are the answers to the MATH portion any easier to understand to math challenged folks like myself?
  4. Thanks for the encouragement, but I'm REALLY weak in math. I hate to admit this but I'm really worried about performing well on this test.
  5. I am sick and tried of logging in to the forum and some new posting of someone that scored a 700+ on the GMAT!!!! I'm finding it very discouraging :( because I have posted a few threads asking for help & advice on the quant section and I don't believe I've gotten any helpful responses. I get answers like, "Do all the problems in the OG" Well, for someone that struggles with math I could look at a problem all day and still NEVER figure it out. Are there any average American students on this site????? Anyone just get an average score? Did you still get into an MBA program???????????
  6. Does anyone fit this profile? Where their Verbal score is much higher than the math? Was your final score 500+? I'm horrible in math and need some encouragement :( It seems every post I have read EVERYONE has a great Quant score.

    Confused

Can someone explain to me about GMAT scoring? What is the scaled score? How does the raw score play into it?

    GMAT books

Good luck on getting an answer! I asked the same thing and got NO RESPONSES! Actually I'm not finding this forum helpful at all.
  9. Besides the Official Guide? Why or why not? 1. Princeton Review 2. Kaplan 3. Barrons 4. Arco 5. any others you may have found helpful
  10. Hey, Does anyone have a pdf of the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] GMAT math? I was given a link to a pdf HOWEVER I cannot open the Math file because it is in Chinese. I need it in English ASAP please. Thanks
  11. Please count me in. I could really use one of those books! (I hope I win...I'm so broke I can't afford to wake up in the morning :( )
  12. Cool! How do you use it????
  13. You are horrible in math! I'm so depressed y'all! I can't concentrate and if I do not do well on this test I will not get into the MBA program of my choice! I feel like crying and giving up. I don't want to because I am SERIOUSLY UNDEREMPLOYED AND I NEED THE MBA TO GET A BETTER JOB....:(
  14. Okay, I'm still a little confused. I thought the formula was: amount of increase/original amount Why isn't the original amount 100?
  15. I fianlly have a copy of this and I'm not so sure about it. Was it helpful to you? Did your scores improve? I took the diagnostic and got a 520. :(
  16. Okay, I must be stupid! I cannot figure out what should be a SIMPLE problem in the 2005 Cracking the GMAT edition. Can anyone show me how to solve this problem step-by-step PLEASE so I can figure out what I am doing wrong. The output of a factory was increased by 10% to keep up with rising demand. To handle the holiday rush, this new output was increased by 20%. By6 approximately what percent would the output now have to be decreased in order to restore the original output? A) 20% B) 24% C) 30% D) 32% E) 79% The book says the correct answer is B. HOW IS THAT??????????
  17. Thanks for the advice. I guess I was expecting more from this forum. It seems like the only folks that get responses are those that have already taken the GMAT or looking for practice tests.
  18. You're kidding right? The discussion in the quant section are WAY over my head. I cannot believe that since I have posted asking for help, advice, suggestions or comments that NO ONE else has had issues with the math section. I'm not talking about 800 level score math on the GMAT either. I'm so disappointed because I thought this forum was going to be helpful.
  19. Ok, I am new to this forum and I have to take the dreaded GMAT. I am seriously "math challenged" and I have to bring my Q scores up. I posted about how others who are not as good in math how like I am how they studied for it what materials did they use, etc, etc.....UNFORTUNATELY I did not get the responses I was looking for. And looking at the posts in the Math Threads I have NO IDEA of what folks are talking about in solving some of those problems. I need a good score. And I'm getting discouraged because I see folks getting scores of over 700 and I can barely add 2 +2.:( What really gets me is that some folks think a 700-something isn't good enough and I'm like WTF???? Help please!
  20. I SUCK at math problems! I panic at word problems and I need to bring my quant scores up. Can anyone give me any advice? Any good books, websites, techniques, etc...? I need all the help I can get. TIA
