  1. Anyone has admitted to UW? Or has interview with them before? Please let me know your tips.
  2. I just did. I sent in my app 2 days before the 3rd deadline!!
  3. In fact, I found out this seems to be true. First time I did the test, I ran through the Quan quickly because it was easy. I had like 10 min extra and still got 50 on Quan. However, I paid for verbal b/c the computer thought that I was one of those 760 people. So it popped out hard questions which messed me up, especially the time management (2 RC in a row then 2 boldfaces in a row). Second time I did it, I still found out the Quan was easy but I took my time and left 1 min extra. I still got 50 on Quan but the computer thought I was a slow person. Therefore, I got some medium difficult questions in the first 10 of Verbal, then it got hard. However, I faced no more difficult questions than previous one. That is what I think!!!
  4. Nice!! Everybody seems to have more than 5 years of experience. Anyone else?
  5. You haven't mention about [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. Did you do it? You can also try the paper tests in mba.com
  6. Are you still in the military? I just wonder how you can use military experience for business school. Good luck.
  7. That is a good score even though you didn't have much time for preparation. Have you been a military officer?
  8. Depends on the test center. Normally 3 weeks ahead.
  9. OK, I agree that 690 is not an awesome score but it is a great score for me because that is what I was aiming for in the beginning. However, I have seen so many people with score higher than 700, which makes me want to try harder and more eager to get to that point. I took this test once before and got 610. Anyway, I learned my lesson in the first try. I know GMAT is only for MBA admission. And so, there it is. I am done with my “quest.” For AWA: I wrote a lot more this time than last time. I do not really care much about AWA. I got 5.0 on the first one so I expect to get the same score. For Quantitative: In my opinion, Quan is always easy. I don’t really have much to talk about it. Even though, the Quan part is a little more difficult than last time, it is still a joke. I guess I must have made some careless mistakes there, which explains why I did not get a 51. I had no question about standard deviation at all. There were a few probability and combination questions but they are very basic. On my first test, I had around 10 minutes extra. However, I was more careful and checked my answers every time. In some problem, I even try to do in two different methods to see if the answers are the same. I feel like I get more word PS this time because the first test had more DS than anything else. I tried to space out the time evenly and so I had about one minute extra. For Verbal: I feel like Verbal is getting easier than previous one. It is like if Quan is more difficult, then Verbal is less difficult. Anyway, there are some good traps on SC about the use of participle but it is not any harder than the paper tests’ questions. I had four passages around 45 to 85. The last one was the longest. I took my time to do RC. I read the passages really slowly and looked back to the passage every time I answered a question. I did not do that last time and I think it was the main reason of failure. You must refer to the passage because it is not a good practice to base on memory alone. I had two bold faces, one at the middle of the test and one at question 39. ETS likes to rush people through because at the end, I faced the longest passage and one bold face. I finished question 41 as another SC but about 5 seconds left. That was really close. I remember the last question made me choose between “instead of” and “in place of.” After I was done with the test, I took off my headphone and went through the survey to calm down. I think I looked very tired as the lady working there told me. There were only two people taking the GMAT that day. The other guy was around 30 years old. He got in the test room before me but I eventually came out first. It was weird when I have to click “Report score” twice. The 690 popped up on the screen. I knew I was done with this test.
  10. I work in the Safety Department of a Navy squadron.
  11. Hi, CONGRATS What did you get on your first try? Are you a native speaker? Look like you got 41 in V easily.
  12. My test center don't even check how many paper you give them back. Last time I went in with stuffs in my pocket that I forgot to take out.
  13. Yeah, it is not too bad. BUt the software is kinda slow. They have seperate questions from other companies. However, some CR questions are weird...
  14. OK, that is how I did it too but is there a better approach?
  15. If the sequence x1, x2, x3,..., xn,... is such that x1=3 and xn+1 = 2xn - 1 for n=1, then x20 - x19 = ? A. 2^19 B. 2^20 C. 2^21 D. 2^20 - 1 E. 2^21 - 1
  16. please inform us more about your app process... Good luck
  17. Hi, In my admission essay, there is a question "In what specific organizations or activities will you participate?" If my plan for "specific organization" is unsure, what is the best way to answer this question? Should I just pick any organization and talk about it?
  18. In a DS question, can we assume this? profit = revenue - expense I mean profit could be what left after many thing beside just expense.
  19. Did you write it in 30min? If not, that does not count.
  20. The following appeared as part of a letter to the editor of a local newspaper. “Bayview High School is considering whether to require all of its students to wear uniforms while at school. Students attending Acorn Valley Academy, a private school in town, earn higher grades on average than Bayview students and are more likely to go on to college. Moreover, Acorn Valley reports few instances of tardiness, absenteeism, or discipline problems. Since Acorn Valley requires its students to wear uniforms, Bayview High School would do well to follow suit and require its students to wear uniforms as well.” The author concludes that Bayview High School should require its students to wear uniforms while at school. The author makes this conclusion based on two evidences from Acorn Valley Academy. First, Acorn Valley Academy shows that its students has higher average grade and they are more likely to go to college after graduation. Second, Acorn Valley also has lower number of tardiness, absenteeism, or discipline problems. This argument is unconvincing for several reasons. First of all, the author fails to give any detail about how the grading system in Acorn Valley Academy works. It is possible that Bayview High School has more difficult teaching programs that may lower the students' grades in general. In addition, school with higher grade reports may not mean the students in that school can perform better academically. The school probably has limited subjects for students. Moreover, the school may emphasis on a certain course repeatedly, which would increase its students' grades. Secondly, the argument assumes that the report from Acorn Valley Acedemy is accurate. The author does not tell how Acorn Valley builds its report or what period of time that the report covers is. That information in the argument is very important because it could weaken the argument. Acorn Valley may have a different system to report students’ problems. Its system can be higher tolerrant than that of Bayview High School. The period of report could be very critical to evaluate the argument. For example, Bayview High School may report its rate of tardiness, absenteeism, or discipline problems in a period of 3 months. However, Acorn Valley only covers 1 month in its report. This will, of course, show a significant difference in number between two schools. The school with a lower rate is not necessarily better. Finally, the author makes a questionable connection between the performances of a school with the fact that its students wear uniform. This connection may not be true. The students' performance may depend on many different things beside just uniform. In conclusion, the above argument is not convinced for three reasons. Acorn Valley Academy could have a different teaching system which let its students to receive higher grades. Also, Acorn Valley Academy's report is questionable because the author does not give enough information about the report. The author also makes a failed connection between two things that may not relate to each other. I did it exactly 30 min. Please grade.
  21. Has anyone tried the VIP section in scoretop.com? Let me know your experience.
  22. http://www.fairfax-lectern.com/index2.html Well, the site looks like it was made for kids. Why don't you post the most difficult questions from their book.
  23. OK, I got why (E) is wrong now! Thanks Obviously, GMAT usually makes "there is/are" wrong.
  24. hmm, I still don't understand the grammar part in (A). What is wrong with (E)?
