After 2 months of agony, its finally over. Am I glad!!!
As regards my experience, here goes....
- The essays were trivial and I had lots of points to write. No problem there.
- The math was definitely tough. I had always believed my math abilities to be higher and hence did'nt focus on the same, leading to a lesser score than expected. I got a lot of sequences and series questions and long word problems. I would suggest that one learn the basic series / sequences formulae before going for the exam. I also got one question on compound interest with different compounding periods which baffled me. There were a couple of probability questions as well but since i had done a lot of probability practice, i did not find those questions tough.
- The verbal was quite OK. similar to the stuff i downloaded from downdowndown. net ( methinks this is similar to that on Powerprep/OG)Thanks to TestMagic I discovered this site and the wonderful practice material available.
As regards my scores on practice tests, they were as follows :
1) Kaplan - 600,550, 610,610
2) PR - 670,650,690
3) Powerprep - 700, 720
As they say, PP accurately predicts your final score more or less.
My advice to GMAT takers
- Its very important to be relaxed. I was really tense. In the math, i could'nt think straight. i think i made few silly mistakes which affected me negatively.
- Do carry stuff to eat and drink as one can get famished in 4 hours. The sandwiches and the tea were a saving grace for me.
- I think i overdid my GMAT study. By the day of the exam, my eyes had started straining by spending too much time on the computer. Do not overkill yourself.
Finally, many thanks to TestMagic. I felt a lot better after reading others experiences.
all the best to all you GMAT takers...
