  1. Ans to Q1 : 4 when k is divided by 6 remainder is 5. We will assume some value of k...lets say 11 0r 17(for both the numbers remainder is 5 when divided by 6) if k is 11 or 17, 2k is 22 or 34. if we divide 22 by 6, remainder is 4. if we divide 34 by 6 remainder is again 4. So the answer is 4.
  2. Hi Manasi, 30-60-90 Traingle rule : lenght of side opposite to 30 angle = 1/2 (length of side opposite to 90) lenght of side opposite to 60 angle = sqrt(3)/2 (length of side opposite to 90) I guess its clear now.
  3. Q 1 : I didn't get first part of ur question....why its given ..in second part simple question is what is remainder when 21 is divided by 6 and the answer is 3. I don't think this question would be so simple. Is anything missing in question??? Ans : 3 Q 2 : I went on writing down the dates and I got the answer 6. There must be easiest way to solve this. If anyone knows...please do reply. Ans : 6 Q 3 : Center of Circle is O, point on line OC is D & point on circle is E. So, now we have to find perimeter of DEC. Perimeter of circle = 2xpix1 Angle x=30 Hence adjacent angle EOD is 60. Perimeter of EC = (60/360)x (2xpi) =(1/3)xpi Angle EOD=60, angle EDO=90 So, angle OED=30 OD=1/2(OE) ---------------------- as per rule of 30-60-90 triangle =1/2 DE={sqrt(3)/2}xOE ----------------as per rule of 30-60-90 triangle =sqrt(3)/2 DC=OC-OD=1-1/2=1/2 Perimeter of DEC = EC+DE+DC =pi/3+sqrt(3)/2+1/2 Ans : pi/3+sqrt(3)/2+1/2 Q 4 : Final value of Mutual Fund = $72.04billion Initial value of Mutual Fund = 72.04 + 3.04=$75.04billion Approximate percentage decrease in assets = (3.04/75.08)x100 = (300/7500)x100 (figures are rounded for simplification) = 4.0 Ans : 4%

    (n - 1)! Rule

    252^5=(7x6^2)^5=(7^5)x(6^2)^5 =(7^5)x(6^10) 252^5 is divisible by 6^10 hence n=10

    (n - 1)! Rule

Hi Charanya, Ur question is not clear to me . I guess u r missing some part of question. If I solve above problem I get various answers....0,1,2,3,4,5,6 etc....there is no specific answer so this can't be a GRE question
  6. kathy

    this guestion

I would also go with A. Distance travelled in 6 hrs is 480km, ie.average speed is 80 Distance travelled in 4 hrs is 300Km, ie. average Speed 75
  7. Grecracker is right...answer should be C. I was wrong I haven't consider that each number should be min 8

    solve this

    Let me explain... let x be original price of each mango. and let y be no of magoes u get for Rs.x then 80 = y * x; and second equation is (0.8)*x*(y+40)=80 0.8xy + 32x =80 0.8*80 + 32x=80 (since xy=80) 64 + 32x = 80 32x = 16 x = 0.5 I solved it this way... I don't know how Vishal has soved for y first &then x:hmm:
  9. kathy

    solve this

I also got the same answer 0.5
  10. Hey Nirmalya, U have got all correct.

  12. no we can't solve it without sin approach, At least I am not aware of any other method. kathy

    PP questions

hi, I guess in the question it is not mentioned ...and if that is not given then the question is wrong ...we can't get any answer. Only possibility is that angle Y + adjacent angle =90, then only we can solve this problem. So, I think if "bd" can clear that then my method is right otherwise.............don't know. kathy
  14. First join points C & G Now area of shaded region = area of triangle CEF - area of triangle CDG Let's say side of square is R. then Area of triangle CEF =1/2 x length CE x length EF = 1/2 R x R=R^2/2 area of triangle CDG = 1/2 area of triangle BCD = 1/2(1/2 x length of BC x legth of CD) = 1/2(1/2 x R/2 x R/2) = R^2/16 Area of shaded region = R^2/2 - R^2/16 = 7R^2/16 Area of square ACEF = R^2 so, area of shaded region/area of square ACEF =7/16 column A=column B ANS : C
