  2. Hello all, We all know the story about the hare and the tortoise. The moral of the story about the Hare and the Tortoise was ‘Slow and Steady Wins the Race'. Right? Okay, read on ... Anyway, once home the hare realized that complacency and overconfidence were the reasons for his defeat. He vows not to repeat the mistake. He invites the Tortoise for a rematch. The tortoise agrees and the race begins. This time however, the hare dashes off to the finish line without taking a break and wins the race. The moral of the story 'Fast and Steady wins the Race'. The story does not end here ... The tortoise goes home and thinks hard. He knows the hare cannot be defeated in speed. He then ponders over his core competence. When he discovers it, he invites the hare to another race. This time the course is changed. There is a wide stream between the start and finish line. At the appointed time the race begins. The hare dashes off like a flash. Soon he arrives at the banks of the stream and is overwhelmed by a sense of dejection as he does not know how to swim. The tortoise arrives at the bank, looks at the hare with sympathy, slips into the water, swims to the other side, scrambles out and slowly makes his way to the finish line before returning. The moral of the story 'Core competence wins the race'. But the story does not end here ... Both of them now friends decide that they had wasted enough time and effort racing against each other. Why not think hard and find a way by which they could travel the same distance at the minimum possible time? At the end of a brain storming session they come out with a solution and decide to try it out - to go to neighboring forest with more fruits. At the appointed time they meet at the starting line. The tortoise sits on the back of the hare. The hare dashes off to the banks of the stream. There the hare gets on the back of the tortoise and the tortoise swiftly crosses the river. On reaching the other side the tortoise again sits on the back of the hare. The hare runs as fast as he can to the finishing line. They both reach the finishing line in the fastest possible time. The moral of the story is "Innovation and team work always wins the race". Cheers, Shweta
  3. Hello MBA05, Yes ,I took test in India. The Quant section in first attemp was kindaa more difficult ,though I scored same marks in Qunat in both tests . I agree with "justdoit" . I don't think that they give tough questions to people in India .It's just a matter of situations of star on that day :-) I am planning to apply to cornell, IMD ,still have to decide on others..... It's just the beginning. Thanks, Shweta

  7. Hello MBA05, I found question in Quant pretty easy , May be I did some careless mistake in one or two question and missed 51 mark . Question were of same level as [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] ,Princeton and Kaplan.Yes , there was a tough question from Geometry based on circle and triangle. But by taking your time , you can solve it .What's important is to answer each question carefully ,without doing any silly mistakes. To recheck each and every answer. There was no question on Standard deviation . Questions on DS,permautation ,combination , probability were quite simple. Verbal part was ok. I got first two question on SC . Next were on RC. I got 4 passages . 3 were 50 lines in length . Last one was about 80 lines . Level of RC was same as that of questions given in [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] and GRE Big Book . I got two bold faced CRs-one in middle of the test and second at the end of the test. Hope this soves the query Thanks and regards, Shweta
  8. Hello All, First of all,I will like to thanks the whole group for helping me to achieve this score. This was my second atttempt First Attempt I gave GMAT on 4th october .I devoted nearly 15 days for preparation.I was expecting around 700 but was surprised to see a score of 660,Anyway,I deceided to give it again. Second Attempt I gave GMAT on 6th december .This time I was consistent .I used to study 2 hours daily . I am strong in Mathematics ,therefore I devoted all the time for improving verbal part.Level of test was between princeton and Kaplan . Books I refered Kaplan 800 Kaplan Verbal OG Princeton -Crack the GMAT Princeton -verbal Powerprep Nova tests GRE big book (Only Reading comprehension and CR part) -As I had already practised [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] while preparing for first attempt ,This helped me a lot in improving verbal part. Test score while preparing for first attempt Kaplan 1-550 Kaplan 2- 620 Kaplan 3 -590 Princeton P1-630 p2-640 P3-660 Powerprep -740 Test score while preparing for second attempt Kaplan 1-680 Kaplan 2- 640 Kaplan 3 -610 This means ,If you get a score of X in kaplan ,add X+60 for score in GMAT :-).In Kaplan , Percentile is not calculated properly . Once you get the individual scores for verbal and Quant , to get the exact total score , one should refer to GMAT score table (provided by GMAC official) Princeton P1-730 p2-720 P3-710 Novatest -670 I think that day ,some one was watching me from above :-) Thanks Erin , Ursula for such a wonderful site Erin , Can you please tell me any link for financial aid , scholarship ,admission related info ?To which all schools I should apply . Thanks in advance Wishing all of you success Regards, Shweta
