  1. You know neither what marketing is nor who works on the marketing departments - why would you want to switch? Look at the people on the marketing market - some of them have economists in their committees. Look at the CVs of the current professors - quite a few of them studied economics. Just do your macro, dude.
  2. tldr but in Toronto you`ll see how IO is done. That is, if you will be willing to watch.
  3. Aren`t you in a field where people calibrate CGE models? ;)
  4. Is there no hope for Toronto? It is MUCH better in IO, just look at the faculty (including Rotman).
  5. I really like Gowrisankaran and Hirano, IO at Arizona seems like much better than its overall ranking suggests.
  6. There actually was a rude rejection letter a few years back which was quite amusing to see. I guess someone who sits on a waitlist should dig that out with a search.
  7. Gelman`s regression book is even better one to start with. And of course it depends on where would you want to finish.
  8. Forget real analysis and show people at some think tank that you mean business. GRE Q800 wouldn`t harm either and you might shoot at some public policy schools that must be caring about the real world like RAND Pardee.
  9. Crawford has just moved to Warwick so IO seems to be as good as in UCL. Well on a second thought it turned out to be quite a stretch. Dept is good but doesn`t reach UCL.
  10. Yeah right. I feel like shaving my legs and showing up in stockings and kilt tomorrow at work, I will make those bastards see my rich personality!
  11. Are you the guy who crawled the admissions thread with a script? You should be banned for not putting a link in your sig. Oh, wait...well anyways you are encouraged to put it there and you might host it on the site from the OP too, shouldn`t be a problem.
  12. I meant good example of a typical contributed article. You know, an accepted format or a style guidelines, you gotta need it so the site will go organically, otherwise it might become unbalanced and generally unattractive. It is also getting eaten by spam bots, so you might want to use captchas or something like that. Placement histories is really cool, you earned yourself a place on the train to a web 2.0 heaven for that as I always wondered why wouldn`t anyone compile this regularly updated (and removed) data from the depts sites. And never mind the forum, wasn`t any good. But I also recall a wiki-like website that had some original jokes, it was also the first place where I learned the author of the famous Solow quote. As for the ads and the attention, I don`t think it is needed. It will be worthwhile for contributors to organize their thinking and finally there will be a place where to send newbies after banning them for asking a question that is answered on the every second page of this board.
  13. Ok finally I`ve had a good sleep and I`m ready to contibute, what are the good examples?
  14. I`m sure training was ok, but what you need (as it seems to me) is the practice of problem setting and concentrating that follows. And, you know, going out, which ultimately leads to the development of both qualities. The part with bullets was a good first step!
